Four friends met for Sunday brunch. Great food. Small menu. Interesting decor. Everything is homemade. Wonderful service. Would love to come back and experience the bar area and live music.
Awesome! Best local clams in Charleston. Great seafood and continental fare. Wonderful atmosphere. Inside-romantic quaint. Outside-live music. Local food? This is it.
Just had the best Crab Soup I've ever tasted...in one of the coolest restaurants I've been in for sometime. I sat outside.
Go there. This place sells itself as a music venue with a restaurant, it should market itself as a great restaurant where you can also listen to live music. It is very make do and basic, but we ate the best meal we had during a week at Folly Beach. Service was haphazard, the bar struggled to find glasses for the beer that we ordered. Not fine dining, but very fine food and a great experience.
This is BY FAR the most underrated restaurant in Charleston. We live on James Island and it hardly gets better in Charleston than sitting under the oaks having a dinner of local produce/fish made w/ love and a great band playing to you! It's is our favorite Friday night tradition. The food here is consistently amazing! Always local veggies that melt in your mouth. The BBQ Mahi Mahi is one of the most amazing dishes I have ever had. And you simply haven't lived until you dive straight in to the dessert fridge!!! All freshly made by the owner's family, and the best desserts I have ever had the pleasure of eating! Everything about this spot is positive vibes, from the service, to the ambience, to the beautiful music, and the food. LOVE the BHK!!!
We have a large hard to please crowd and everyone loved the Kitchen! The staff was very accommodating for the picky among us and answered out multitude of questions. Dinner had us scraping our plates and desserts were homemade and absolutely to die for. I would highly recommend this place and will be returning on future trips to folly beach!
A Delightful & Delicious Surprise. We discovered Brick House Kitchen when driving past the restaurant on our way back to our hotel. We decided to check it out the next night. It looked so inviting from the outside to dine in a big, old, Southern house. Our meals were absolutely delicious! The atmosphere and surroundings were nostalgic and wonderful. The music playing inside fits the setting perfectly. The staff (the Thomas family) is very friendly and accommodating. My husband and I highly recommend Brick House Kitchen and look forward to dining there again when we return back to the Charleston area.
Great Place. Wonderful place for dinner! Loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious. Great service and music too. I highly recommend it! I had the BBQ mahi mahi with sweet potatoes. My mom had the Grilled Shrimp with regular potatoes. We both loved every bite! So glad we stopped in!
Very special!!. Just ate there a few minutes ago. My vegtable plate was incredible. They are perfectly cooked so the natural flavor shines. The people are warm, genuine and we always feel at home. My family loves the fried flounder. It is a great place for groups with disparate eating habits. A meat eater and vegan will all be happy. We always have a great time at Brick House.
Eat at this place!. The food was awesome. I had a great jalepeno-sweet potato soup and some very good tuna. The soup was in a paper bowl but I didn't care. The people that get upset by that type of thing should get over themselves. The service was flawless. The kitchen was run by someone who likes to expirement but not get too wierd. Everything they used was fresh. The very best part is that they support local business by buyng fresh local seafood and veggies. I'm a tourist here, but the next time I'm within 100 miles of this place I'm coming to James Island to eat here. And whatever you do save room for dessert.
Fabulous! We went a few weeks ago while in town on a Friday night. It was a pleasure to dine here. I came across this restaurant while looking for things to do on our weekend trip to Charleston. When I saw they had a live band on Friday night we decided to try it out.
Not only was the band good, the staff super friendly, but the food was AMAZING!
When we arrived we had to walk into the main building to request a table. There was a hostess stand outside near the gate leading to the outdoor seating but no one was at it. They had a small wait for outdoor seating. The employee suggested we go sit near the band while we waited for our table. So we did. The band was good!
The employee notified us about our table being ready about 15 minutes later. She had already put some waters on the table for us. Our waitress was friendly. We had several questions about the menu. She was was happy to answer them all and even made suggestions. I was pleased that they were willing and able to make adjustments to entrees. We had crab cakes (which was pure crab no breading) and a angle hair pasta dish (I subbed chicken for shrimp). We also ordered dessert. I can not remember what type of cheesecake we got but we ate every piece! Every thing we tasted was delicious. The drinks were good as well. Strong enough but not too strong.
This place is a local spot that is a step above mom and pop. Drinks are served in Mason jars and plastic cups. Outdoor tables are patio furniture with table clothes and candles on them. The extra seating (around the smaller band stage) were various chairs. I feel this gave the place a unique feel. But want to share this information so you are prepared.
It is child friendly. There were couples there with their kids. One couple with an infant another with an elementary aged child.
Best restaurant we went to on our trip to folly beach/charleston. We had buffalo shrimp, shrimp soup, bbq mahi mahi and the fried flounder. The food was absolutely sublime. It was so fresh and flavorful; perfectly seasoned. And the service was just a step above. My wife actually said to me during my meal, "it's so rare and so nice to feel like a waitress anticipates your needs before you do!" This was especially nice, given that we had two young children with us. They loved the food too, and the unique atmosphere. We ate inside, and we loved that we were in an old house that was repurposed to be a homey yet upscale restaurant. It also looks like it has a cool outside patio with live music some nights. Truly, the brick house was a highlight of our trip.
Walked in on a Tuesday night and had the salmon with black bean and corn salad - one of the best meals I've had in Charleston - simple and fresh, didn't try to get 'fancy' like a lot of other places here do. Quick and friendly service - great atmosphere inside and out. Would recommend this slightly under the radar spot.
Jennifer catered a bridal luncheon for me. Her food was the talk of the weekend. The tomato basil soup was fantastic. But the artichoke egg rolls stole the show. Folks talked about them the whole weekend!
Of course the chocolate cake was mouth-watering good.
I've never had a bad meal... or even a fair meal...at Brickhouse!
Brick House Kitchen is a family owed. Restaurant. I just read some of our reviews and I just want to thank our loyal friends who eat with us. I wish you all a fantastic New. Year. I make all of the desserts , I love baking... I feel that the community around our business is holding a grudge because of the music that filters into their space. Sorry ...we really try but you have made us the...UnderDog...OK...we know. I lived in that house for 17 years ...there was a band that would start practice in the storage units next door at around 11pm ...4_5 nights a week ...right. outside my bedroom window ...so I know it can be annoying. Please forgive us. We are just trying to keep our business going ... Thanks. Chris
Drove by on a Tuesday night and decided to give it a try. Food was simple but very good - recommend the cajun grilled salmon with cream of corn. But what really made the place was the atmosphere and the live music. Magical place right around sunset.
Dinner was fantastic! Seriously from apps, tomato soup to the salmon. Owners and staff all around, chatting it up about the old 150 year old house... Then got talked into a dessert which I'm sure is good, we're taking it to go.
Wow. A fantastic meal. 7 of us had different things and we were all thrilled. Dined on the front porch on the harvest table...what a great setting.
Great food when I ate there in the past. Unfortunately I just found out recently when trying to bring family there that they only do special events and aren't open to the public anymore.
Always and amazing meal here. The ambiance is definitely home-style, and the cooking is good too.
