David wasTotal vibe !!! The customer was on point . Staff definitely seems happy to work there. Very knowledgeable and also gives great advice. We were treated the way a professional would have it to be. For it to be Americanized take on Mexican food l am impressed with the creative flavors and one of the best margaritas I've had my whole life the pineapple habanero margarita knocked my socks off. I will be back .... With more friends and family.

It was the first time I visited Mex 1 Coastal Cantina and the food was so delicious. I had a to-go order but my food was still very tasty. I tried the CRISPY BEEF, RANCHERO CHICKEN and CARNE ASADA tacos. The Ranchero Chicken taco was very good and had a sweet sauce. The Crispy Beef tacos were my favorite. They host trivia night which is cool! I highly recommend trying this place.

Emmie/Emmy (sorry) was the sweetest most pleasant worker I’ve experienced in my 2 years in Charleston. Beyond sweet, ALL the workers were kind and attentive and while we took our food to go, the bites I took were amazing. Great food, great atmosphere mainly because the staff was so kind! Will be coming back for date night as much as I can afford 🫶🏼

The margaritas were good but place was pricey the nachos queso and beans with no meat were like $18 also had a total of 4 margaritas and 2 shots of tequila my bill was $101. So drinks are pricey.

So, we had spent the day in Charleston and my wife was getting hungry. She was craving Mexican and Mex 1 was close by. The chips and salsa were ok; salsa didn't have any zing and chips had no salt.
The tacos we had were amazing. I had carne asada, ranchero chicken and crispy beef. All were amazing. And under the reccomendation of our waiter, we got the churros for dessert. Very tasty! A nice place to eat

K’Anna our server was a GEM and had some great suggestions. The Bangin’ shrimp tacos are what they are known for, however, the Baja fish taco was the BOMB!!! Great drinks and the chips were crispy and yummy. Go for the Jalapeño Queso with the chips! Aly says the Quesadillas were cooked to perfection and super fresh! Speaking of HEAT, head on over to the HOT sauce bar and get your spice ON!!

The queso and salsa were good. The chips reminded me of Chilis chips which are the best. My husband said the fish tacos were pretty good. The carnitas was tender and good. It had a different flavor than what I’m uSed to with carnitas but I enjoyed it. The beef taco was not good. I took one bite and couldn’t finish the rest.

Omg their food was amazing! And who would've thought it with the looks from outside.
The parking lot was slammed, the atmosphere was great and our waitress was excellent.
Loved the outdoor seating and each dish we got.

Salsa had great flavor and was way better than a lot of free salsas I've had. The chips where very fresh and salted just right. The street corn queso was packed with flavor and corn, definitely worth checking out. I had banging shrimp, carnitas, and cantina chicken tacos. I enjoyed them all.
Disliked:
Tables packed into dining room offered little space to maneuver for us and the staff who were constantly having to squeeze through.
My date took one bit of her banging shrimp and said she didn't like it. It looked slightly different than mine. I tasted it and it wasn't as yummy as mine. She said all her tacos were cold, 2 of mine definitely were. I think the food cold was a product of slow service - maybe they were shirt staffed or maybe our server was oversat.
Conclusion:
Food was good and I would eat there again.

Fantastic food, attentive service, nice atmosphere. The draft is cold and delicious and the banging shrimp tacos are Killer! Salads are ftesh and generously sized. Great place to meet friends for wonderful foods and beverages.

This is a great place to relax over delicious Margaritas! The bartender will mix whatever you’re looking for evin if not on the menu. I had a pineapple margarita and it was delicious. Food is also good. Can’t wait to go back!

I'm new in Charleston and so happy I found this place. I'm a huge fan of their salads and honestly, it's refreshing to find a place that has lighter options. I always take my dog, Cherry Bomb, and we sit on the patio. The staff remembers her name every time, they bring her a bowl of ice water and one day it was a little chilly so they brought her a blanket! The staff are very welcoming and accommodating! Love this place.

Everyone was pleased at the table except my fish tacos came late and the fish was cold, but it was still good. I did not ask to go. I have it reheated because it came much later than everyone else’s. We had somewhere we needed to be.
