The mussels, hmmmmmm. But the duck confit hash won my husbands heart. We've eaten dinner here before, but it's my new favorite Sunday brunch spot! Everything, including our waiter, Miguel, was wonderful. Thanks for a great experience.
The best restaurant meal in the USA in a decade. I had braised rabbit and gratin dauphinois. The sauce on the rabbit was stunning. And the bar tender made the best Tangeria and tonic I have had in the perfect tall glass.
It did not start the best because we stood there for almost 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and it was not even the hostess, but a waitress walking by. Once we were seated, the experience was awesome! Our waiter Thomas(I think that was his name) was wonderful with his recommendations and visited us with great conversation. The food was beyond amazing and my son wanted to place a to go order so he could have it again later. Photos added to show what we got. I couldn't finish my dessert but what I had was mouth watering. My son has declared that he wants his birthday dinner to be here. We will visit again! Oh, we also got the charcuterie board and added the cheese with it. Ask for a side of honey and it will make the board better!
We had a quick getaway weekend to Charleston a few weeks ago and this place was our favorite of all the restaurants we visited. The Chicken Francaise was absolutely to die for, I have thought about it every day since eating it! The location, atmosphere & service were all exceptional. Our server (Cody, I think) was awesome - super efficient, professional and great at his job. Great experience all the way around, highly recommended.
I had my sons rehearsal dinner upstairs and it was amazing. Sass was wonderful and the team very accommodating and helpful. Family and friends were all coming up to me saying what a wonderful time they were having. Thank you for everything I could not have done it without you. They even made all of my guests with food allergies happy. I highly recommend.
It’s been a while since we dinned at this “French” restaurant. It’s always been good; now it’s become a must visit on a more regular basis. The food & service is top notch & deserves recognition. The fish we ordered was fresh & expertly prepared along with delicious sides. I do wish they offered more French wines. Our selection of Bourgogne by Oliver Leflaive well paired with the fish.
My husband and I wanted to celebrate moving to Charleston, so we looked up a fancy restaurant that had a reservation open, and I'm so happy we found this place. The food was phenomenal! I got the pan roasted duck, and my husband got the rabbit, and they were both absolutely incredible. Our dessert was the Chocolate Potes de Creme, which was rich and velvety. The biggest compliment we would like to give is to our server, Noah. He was an attentive and helpful server, but even more than that, he was a genuinely delightful human being. We felt so safe and comfortable talking to him that we left wondering when we could come back, so we could be friends with him. He is truly one of the best servers we've ever had.
Went for dinner for a work event. We sat in the back room area and it was so HOT! The drinks and food were very good. The salmon and Brussels were so good. Our server was kind of ditzy and smelled like weed.
Great waiter. I'm embarrassed that I forgot his name. The onion soup is fantastic. I wanted pick up the bowl and pour in my mouth to make sure I got the last sip. The lamb tenderloins medium rare are mouth watering. And the grilled baby carrots are not to be missed.
Rue de Jean is a classic French bistro with very tasty French fare. It won't knock your socks off, but you will walk out thinking you just had a very nice meal. Skip fried stuff like the duck confit croquettes. Do go for the duck breast; the salad with warm goat cheese, beets and candied pecans; the short rib; and the creme brulee. Wine selection is large and very good. It is family-friendly, and service is very nice. There is a paid lot right across the street.
2nd visit:
Must trys:
Potato soup with truffle oil and creme fraiche (we were scraping the remnants off the bowl)
Lamb porterhouse with oyster mushrooms and new potatoes with quince sauce (rich and delicious)
Pork chops in a glaze sauce over roasted brussel sprouts (very tasty and tender)
Chocolate pot de creme with fresh whipped cream (lovely)
This was the most delicious meal of our whole trip. Good price for the quality of the food. Tammy was a wonderful waitress, very kind and we never felt rushed. We were celebrating our 2nd anniversary and didn’t want the meal to end. If we ever find ourselves in Charleston again, we will be putting this at the top of our list.
The Coq au Vin was excellent. It brought me back to my childhood. My wife enjoyed her Beet Salad and French Onion Soup. The Salted Carmel Cheesecake was the only disappointment.
