What a cool place! Root Cellar is located right beside a busy bookstore in a little shopping center. Lots of traffic here which is cool. I particularly loved the setup, ambiance and general atmosphere. This is definitely a place I would come to study and have a fresh meal with some great coffee. They have their beverage and utensils self serving at a station. I ordered the grits bowl w/ Sausage & Bacon and got my eggs over-medium with a side pancake and syrup. Soooo good and I appreciated the presentation. My mimosa was a little pricey but still good. It was really the freshness of everything for me! I was not a fan of their menu and ordering system because even though they tell you to type in your table number in special instructions they either don't read them, don't see them or just plain ignore them. Order came out of the kitchen and they walked around the dining room yelling names until someone raises their hand. If you have headphones in you may miss it. They have some outside dining which is cool but I ate inside since it was a rainy day when I went. Although nobody greeted me when I came everyone that I did come in contact was super friendly and helpful. I have GOT to come back for some of their dessert and try the rest of the menu I saw so many different plates but I got full quick. Will definitely be back again soon! Thank you Root Cellar Cafe Team!

I have been to root cellar probably an unhealthy amount of times in the past few months because I love it so much. Breakfast and lunch are both so good, but the bakery is just beyond comparison. The lemon bars have changed my life and the rotating cakes are always incredible. They also have special coffee drinks and smoothies of the month which are always so good!!

Great restaurant and catering! The Root Cellar is in Chapel Hill, NC. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always pleasantly surprised. Wait staff is great! They're friendly, efficient, and polite. If you are into fresh healthy innovative food @ value. If you appreciate patronizing local farmers and food products. Check out The Root Cellar.

I went to the Root Cellar Cafe for brunch and had their Eggs Benedict. All the ingredients were fresh and the individual elements in the dish were perfectly cooked. However, the dish as a whole was too rich (way too much pimento cheese!). I will come back to try different items on the menu because (1) their space is ample yet cozy, (2) their staff is friendly, (3) the ingredients are fresh, and (4) the food is reasonably priced (35 dollars for two brunch dishes, a side dish, a latte, and a cup of tea).

Wow! My husband and I both love this place! The service is friendly and the environment is very welcoming. We enjoyed our hot beverages, and loved sharing the breakfast quesadilla. It was filling and delicious! Can't wait to come back and try the smoothies!

Worst food I’ve ever eaten. I will not waste my money here again. I couldn’t finish it because it really was nasty. The chorizo was like some kind of spam, flavorless and not spicy at all, and the egg was just egg white (what even happened to the yolk?) did you run out of real eggs? AND it was cold. So nasty! I don’t usually come down this hard on a local place but they have an image of using fresh ingredients and this mess was inexcusable! Plus they charge so much more. I would have chosen cheaper fast food if I had known how bad it was going to be. Edit to address your offer: No thanks! This mess was obviously carelessly and thoughtlessly thrown together the first time, didn’t come close to the description on the menu and frankly that’s a little insulting to offer to fix it now. I’ve worked in the food service industry for 47 years and I know when I see “I don’t give damn” on a plate.

Pretty good, happy about the vegan breakfast sandwich option. The bread was soggy from the peppers and onions. Got mimosas that said champagne but it was just bubbles from Oregon in a can. I do like the casual feel of this place.
