Kojak's

One of McHenry’s new offerings, Kojack’s advertises “Greek Fries” boldly outside on its marquee, along with other Chicagoland classics. I visited with family a few days ago, and liked the experience overall. As someone who has been in the restaurant industry for years, I have a few things I’d change but not many. Cleanliness: 9/10 with a very clean dining room that was cleaned well after guests left. Food: I ordered the Italian Combo with Greek Fries. The sandwich was huge, beef was sliced thick and tasted great. Sausage wasn’t my favorite, but wasn’t bad either. Toppings offered were fantastic, and the roll was delicious. Greek Fries here are thin cut fries with feta, lemon juice, spices, and I believe olive oil. Loved them, and would absolutely order them again. Someone at the table next to us had commented on how good they were as well. Portion sizes were large and at a fair price. My family member got the Reuben, which was somewhat devoid of 1000 Island and much sauerkraut….so his experience wasn’t as great as mine, but he said it wasn’t bad, and liked the option for chips on the side. To be fair, the provided kettle chips did look pretty good. Menu options were pretty large, and I was intrigued by their gyro/hamburger hybrid burger. Staff was friendly and brought our meals to the table. I assume someone from management or possibly the owner stopped by our table to ask if everything was okay. Definitely a service you don’t see often at a Quick Service Restaurant. The only things I’d change would be more garbage cans in the restaurant, adding a little more decoration on the wall, and maybe add a napkin dispenser at each table. Kojacks has a pretty big menu, and did a decent job of impressing me the first visit. I’ll be back to try a few more things out, but so far it’s a decent spot.

Today, I would give Kojak's 0 stars if I were able. This evening my family came over for dinner. We agreed we would order Kojak's. Once my brother picked up the food and brought it home we noticed that the 4 large fries we ordered were missing. I called and was ready to go pick them up. I get that mistakes happen. However, after explaining it to the lady who answered, she put me on hold and another VERY RUDE individual answered. She said she personally packed the fries herself and that I must have missed them. She told me to look in the bag again. I was looking right at the bag that said 4 lg fries and there were no fries. Only the 1 bag of onion rings. How could I miss something like that? I don't appreciate her accusing me of lying. She must have been in a rush and placed our order in the bag of someone else. Who knows? Anyway, after accusing me of lying, she refunded me some money, but she shorted me what the cost of 4 lg fries would be and hung up on me before I was finished. Go figure. This is the last time anyone in my family will be ordering from there again. It's sad that such rude people are running the place.

Very good chicken salad got on a croissant with cheese, very generous amount of shredded lettuce. The chicken salad was flavorful wish there was a little more on the croissant, but it was a healthier option so I understand the portions. Chili tasted delicious with a side of rice pilaf not bad for feeding 1! Highly recommend!👌

Every delivery order I have received from there has been missing items. Food overcooked, incorrect, or just plain missing. Restaurant staff could care less about you or your food! If you want to be disappointed, every time, you’re in the right place. What a joke! Last time i will ever order from here. I would advise others to go elsewhere. food is subpar at best anyway.

Average food but pretty consistent. Nothing like Mr. Beefy’s was in FRG though. We go here at the end of a long day to pick up dinner sometimes. One thing I’d say though is I have worked kitchen and restaurants many years of my life and I would probably cut the staff to a few more efficient people less high school kids with their cell phones out and open later on weekends but what do I know.
