Szechuan Taste

Having spent some time traveling throughout China, I was really pleased with Szechuan Taste! I think they have done a great job with providing an authentic approach to traditional Chinese flavors and dishes. It might be intimidating to try the dishes, but there are a few that are great introduction plates. For example, we started with the scallion pancakes, continued with the green beens (under vegetables - savory and the right amount of salty with the shallots) and cumin beef (spicy and full of a flavor), and rounded everything out with the beef rice noodle soup. Everything was absolutely delicious and quick. Don’t worry - if you’re still concerned, they had American friendly dishes. Our service was great! It was a slower night, so we had several people checking on us, refilling waters, and helping to ensure our experience was pleasurable. There is a great little patio that’s well let and has a nice authentic ambience. The only reason this place is 4 stars is because I think it could use some updating of the decor, lighting inside, and bathrooms. This will 100% be my new go-to for authentic Chinese!

We ordered four dishes and it was $50+ with the tip. The food was very good and the proportions were plenty. The place is clean and has a comfortable atmosphere, service was fast (comes out of the kitchen as prepared, one-by-one, polite quality staff. They do not have any WiFi which is a hassle 😒 because Sprint has zero access inside, nor do any of spectrum's hotspots. Of course we didn't go there to surf the internet.

Are you looking for authentic Chinese food that specializes in Szechuan flavors (do not mistaken this place for an American fusion restaurant)? You've come to the right spot. This place serve authentic, spicy Chinese food. It attracts a crowd of many Chinese people, so there's that. The menu also has your fusion options like your General Tso and stuff. But, this place is the place is literally, Szechuan Taste.

I was the only white guy in the restaurant at the time. I felt like I was in Asia. Very cool. The food was really good. Different than what im used to. I purposely avoided the American Chinese section of the menu. I had never seen that before in an asian restaurant. Very nice waitress. She was encouraging me to try more traditional recipes. Again awesome. Very helpful. She new I didn't recognize most of the items on the menu without me saying anything. Very fun and enjoyable experience. Fast service.

Update 6/3/2018: New menu. Huge disappointment. I don't know what they were thinking, but it was not a good thought. Kung Pao Chicken is hugely disappointing. Wontons in chili oil very bland compared to other restaurants. After a several good visits, we won't be back. Outstanding traditional Chinese food. Well worth the visit or dinner if you aren't close. Toasted Fish, Scallion Pancakes, Fried Dumplings all very good. Complimentary plate of pickled vegetables (not Kimchi) was fabulous. Service great. Got our food fast. Highly recommend.
