Of the long-standing Mexican restaurants in Carson City, this is the only one that I believe has maintained its quality of great food. Whenever I am visiting in town, I make a point of going to El Charro. I absolutely love their chile rellenos. Perfectly batter-dipped, topped with their delicious sauce and NOT smothered in cheese like so many other places do (excessive cheese is just a sign that the food is mediocre and can't stand on its own). Never had a bad meal there and the margaritas aren't bad either!
Great place to just and relax with a kick ass margarita, free chips and salsa and bean dip. Just go in the bar, happy hour. Just don’t drive, the margs are pretty strong. See you next Friday
The outside looks small but inside it is pretty big a nice bar in the back the walls are decorated with art from one of the owners very good work, the staff is super friendly and the food is amazing

It was a nice mexican restaurant with actual shredded beef in their enchiladas. Their salsa and chips were also nice and the customer service was good too. Would definitely come back a second time.
Been going here since I was a little kid, must be 30 years by now. Besides personally knowing and growing up with the Avitia kids, I've always felt happy at this restaurant. Unfortunately, I rarely order anything but the Mexican pizza! Lol. But honestly, every dish I've ever had is great. Even after this many years, the food, service any atmosphere haven't changed a bit. Literally, but even one little bit. They are part of Carson City history and culture.

Their atmosphere is certainly a true Mexican style, it reminds me of being in Mexico as a child, visit and enjoy 👍👍👍

Good take out or dine in. I think dining in is better, but always good fresh ingredients. Seafood enchilada is delicious!
