Shige Sushi

Came here from word of mouth/reviews online. We made a reservation and we’re seated right away. Very small mom and pop place, so I highly recommend calling ahead of time since they are only operating at 50% capacity. Excellent sushi - some of the best I’ve ever had. Appetizers were delicious too - we had the shishito peppers. I will definitely come back here!

Absolutely wonderful! Quality ingredients used well, the flavors are present in every bite, and you leave full and content. Service was on point, they have awesome rolls and daily specials. This hits the spot. The dining area is intimate and cozy, they're not a trendy alternative to a bar/club like some sushi joints try to be, they are exactly what you want when you desire sushi. Affordable, clean, and consistent.

BBQ Albacore, Wakame Salad (from Oto's), tenpura veggies, tenpura shishito appetizers were all as expected. Saporro and Echigo stout were correct in temperature and flavor. Chirashi sushi and nigiri/shishimi combo dinners were fresh and correctly prepared. Service was inconsistent and items ordered were forgotten or delayed.

This is my first time posting a review which should say just how important I think this is as a public service. I eat a lot of sushi so I know sushi. I took my family here for dinner. I don't mind spending $120 for a good sushi meal, but this meal was nothing like sushi. The spicy tuna roll was like flaky canned tuna mixed with a bland red sauce. It was horrible! The California roll tasted nothing like crab but rather like the same flaky canned tuna mixed with another bland spice. The dry chicken teriyaki was clearly frozen and heated up only to be ice cold again within minutes sitting on the plate. The food was literally inedible and they tried to act surprised when we didn't want to box it up to go and we told them why. I paid the bill because it was the right thing to do. They are over priced to begin with and to be served such a terrible meal is disgraceful and I think everyone should beware. Don't waste your money.

beyond pathetic, if I could give it less than 1 star I would, waitress was very rude puting in very little effort as if she didn't want to be there which was very noticable when she kept messing up our order, me and my friend ordered 2 sushi rolls each but the waitress only brought out 1 roll for both of us which was suprising that something that tasted like it just got out of the microwave took 30 minutes to make even though me and my friend were one of the only people there which i obviously see why, and when she gave us the food it felt like she was throwing the plate on the table as if she didn't want to serve us. We than told her we ordered 2 rolls each and by the time we were done eating our first sushi roll we were still waiting another 15 minutes for are second roll which by that time we just asked for a check than left, but as we were leaving the waitress runs outside demanding a tip and calling us "losers" even for how poor the service was. overall, theres a lot of sushi resturaunts in Sac, Id suggest explore other options.
