This is a tiny little place in a hidden courtyard. You need to find it, everything fm the rosemary infused water to the fresh.y crisped tortilla chips is divine. The fish tacos were light and flavorful, truly the best I have ever eaten.
Super nice people and some of the best mexican food ive ever had. Will definitely visit again .
I really enjoyed the new menu at Pescadero. Unique presentation and flavors from Baja California which includes influences from Asia and the Mediterranean. The food was extremely fresh and very tasty. The cocktails were incredible and so beautiful. The plating of each dish was lovely. Service was great and upbeat and friendly while also efficient. The music was fun and ambiance enjoyable. The host was super charming. Price points were reasonable. All in all a fantastic place for a family gathering, date, celebration or even social dining! Pescadero is a must if in Carmel!
I’ve been a vegetarian for more than 15 years, so suffice to say that I’m accustomed to requesting menu substitutions. While the menu doesn’t necessarily have vegetarian entrees, Gabe, the owner, suggested I get the Tacos De Pescado and substituted with battered avocado instead of fish or shrimp.
The tortillas are house made — I was informed that they grind their own cornmeal and everything, and I must say, it was unlike any other tortilla I’ve had. A small dish of salts came with the table, one flakey and the other a black lava salt. I appreciated the ability to be able to add salt to taste, as I imagine some individuals like my parents who have hypertension could enjoy the food with less sodium.
I was also informed that the Tacos De Abulon could be made vegetarian by withholding the abalone. They would be fried artichoke tacos essentially. The Pescado may be made vegetarian as well by substituting deep fried avocado for the halibut.
I was also blown away by the large corn chips that came with the guacamole. There was something about the type of corn, and how it felt substantial but still very light and crispy. They were not oily feeling at all. And not like the kind of chips that end up cutting your mouth.
Of course I couldn’t refuse finishing our meal with a crime brûlée as well — again one of the best I’ve had for a longggg while. The texture was perfect, silken and smooth, and the taste of the egg really came through amazingly balanced.
We were visiting Carmel for the day at end of the day we couldn’t find any restaurants to have dinner all of them required reservations. After calling around and walking for over 45 minutes. We found pescadero they were able to find us table just had to wait 30 minutes. The restaurant set up is nice a little bit small tables decorations are great. Now when it came to the food, the lobster enchiladas there was not much lobster inside enchiladas the sauce was pretty tasty. We also order a molcajete or came with meat chicken shrimp and cactuses it was smaller then what it actually shows in the pictures but after all it was good. They only give you 3 tortillas which is definitely not enough to finish all your molcajete. Service was great very friendly staff. But I do believe is very pricey it was over $100 dollars for two people and no alcohol or wine was order so yes very pricey
My daughter and I ate at Pescadero tonight, returning because we enjoyed our last visit 2 years ago. We were outside in the cozy, charming courtyard with our two greyhounds, sitting next to the relaxing sounds of the fountain.
The food and the service were just as good as we remembered from our first visit. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in Carmel, you’ll enjoy Pescadero. Even if you don’t bring your dog(s).
This place is awesome! Best Mexican food i have had in Carmel, also great mezcal selection. The staff is also very good. Friendly and knowledgeable. Also I left my phone and hat out side the bar and they found it and mailed it back to me as I had left town. Again the food is awesome!!
Pescadero is a little hidden gem in Carmel. We never planned to go here but every other place was already full. We found it in a little spot and what a great little spot.Loved it! Authentic! Guacamole, beans, salsa and tortillas where delicious. A must go in Carmel
Margarita and tacos were great. Nachos were top notch.
We ordered the tacos and they were really good! We liked the home made tortillas! I personally liked the quantity of fish in the tacos even though they were hard to eat since the were very generous. The quality is pretty good, but for 3 tacos $22 so i guess it is expected a higher quality than normal! The chips and guacamole were definitely unique and they come in a very generous portion.
Personally a positive experience for me
Absolutely great place. Hard to find, tucked behind some buildings, but once found, it is like finding a treasure. The staff is friendly and inviting and treat you like family. This is not fast food, but an experience in eating. You come here to enjoy the ambience. If you need a quick bite, go to Taco Bell. If you are coming to enjoy a bit of downtown Carmel and want a bit if charm and Baha Mexican, you find THE place.
Terrific hand crafted Mexican food. Portions were plentiful and the service helpful, friendly and entertaining. Great spot.
