Hunkar Restaurant

Food was great and staff was friendly. I really tried to have an abundance of patience with the service with current labor struggles but there has to be a limit. If you cannot service all your tables in a decent time frame/with regularity then as a restaurant you should not fill the tables and turn people away. Would probably be five stars if not for the slow service and basic disregard for our table as they got busier.

Amazing food and service! We walked in and luckily we were early enough they were able to accommodate us. We were in the front area. It was cozy, no complaints. But next time (TIP) we will make reservations for the back room. It has a beautiful view of NYC! Our orders: As it was cold we ordered Lentil Soup which was good Stuffed Eggplant is a must order so good! Beware the pepper on top. Bronzino was so good, crispy skin and tender flesh, well seasoned and comes with a salad Hunkar Begendi - A classic Istanbul dish - lamb chunks cooked in tomato sauce, served on eggplant puree blended with cheese. Very good, I do not like lamb but this was clean and had no gamey taste Will definitely come to get a table in the back and try other items!

By far the best Turkish restaurant in NJ as far as I'm concerned, great food- got the Hunkar mix grill and baklava.Everything was very fresh and delicious.Friendly staff and really nice atmosphere our table was on the patio that has a nice view of NYC.Great experience I highly recommend going there whenever you crave the best Mediterranean food

Hunkar is a gem. We always love visiting here when we’re in New Jersey. It’s got some of the finest Turkish food I’ve ever had. One of the best restaurants we’ve been to. The service is friendly, quick and smooth. The food is always fresh and consistently delicious. Everything off the menu is amazing. Make sure to get a wide range of appetizers; they’re all outstanding.m, and always served with warm Turkish bread and butter. It’s a meal in itself, but definitely try the entrees; they are also very good. My favorites are the lamb shank, Hunkar begendi and iskendar kebab. Be sure to finish up with a Turkish tea or coffee and one of their desserts. You’ll always have leftovers to take home! If you can reserve a table outside in the back. They have lovely views of Manhattan. Everything about this place is a winner!!!
