Used to be our favorite pizza Friday spot. The last few weeks we've ordered our pizzas are made sloppy and they are dry and hard. Disappointing to say the least and they don't even care. This is our last week wasting money.
(Hungry teenagers will eat anything and grabbed a slice before I took a picture.)

Great sausage pizza the other night as well as two grinders - chicken parm and meatball. This pizza dough was improved because it was thinner.

Traditional pizza parlors that primarily make pizza and grinders, for me, often have either really good pizza or really good grinders. In my reviews on Google Maps as a local guide, I only have one up currently that delivers both as equally delicious, though I have not tried a grinder at one favorite pizza place. With Joe Pizza, I prefer their grinders, from their meatball, to chicken parm and tuna. The pizza is lacking because of the dough. It's the kind where crusts are left on the plate. Brittle and dry. If you like a hard crunch, maybe this is your pizza. We ordered the Kitchen Sink pizza Feb 2022, which has everything on it. It's okay. Toppings were fine. The whole tuna grinder was still perfect. To get it right, tuna can't be cold in the middle or have a mayonnaise that changes the flavor too much or excess onion and/or celery if any ;the bun has to be toasted and the cheese melted on top of warm solid white tuna - all melded together perfectly with room temp lettuce and tomato if added.

Another famished afternoon brought us into Joe Pizza for a second meal. We dined in this time and ordered chicken wings, a calzone with sausage and meatball and a hot tuna grinder with provolone. We bought another old fashioned meatball grinder to go. They were out of pinot noir but the cabernet sauvignon was fine. The jumbo wings were okay. The buffalo sauce made the chicken. The wings were kind of dry and cool in temperature.
The tuna grinder was delicious - full of tuna with chopped red onion. The calzone was the best. Large and evenly rolled out, fresh toasted bread, oozing interior and marinara sauce combined for a savory bite with every cut of the knife. Half of it was boxed up to enjoy later in two smaller meals. The take out meatball grinder was actually eaten in one sitting! Impressive. Very nice owner and staff.

Wow. Joe Pizza makes tremendous grinders. Their pizza is good, too, and both are really big in size. There's no way you could eat a whole grinder in one sitting unless you were incredibly hungry - and we were when I picked up three to-go plus a large pizza. Hot, lush in sauce and mozzarella on a long, fresh, warm roll, the main ingredient is still the star in the middle of all this goodness with a generous portion.
My meatball grinder was fantastic. Packed with meatballs and I didn't have to ask for green peppers to be added on for once. The best. The chicken parmesan was also really well fried, moist and full of flavor. Another excellent choice. Half an eggplant grinder was also enjoyed.
The large brick oven pizza had three toppings - pepperoni, sausage and green pepper. Having just enough room to try a thin slice after devouring one half of my grinder from the warmed oven, it was flavorful with a nice balance of ingredients. The crust is thin and dry. This pizza reheats really well and I savored another slice more the next day trying it on its own instead of following the meatball sub. I thought the bill was a little pricey but after seeing the size of everything and how much they put into the grinders, it's truly a good value. We've been meaning to try Joe Pizza for quite awhile and are glad we finally did. We look forward to trying more things and another grinder.
If you want to dine in, there are several booths in a room to the side of the order counter. The menu has a good selection of appetizers: sliders, wings, calamari, eggplant fries, Brussel sprouts, an Italian style quesadilla and fried dough! There are eight salads, ten pasta dishes, sandwiches, wraps and a gyro! There is beer on tap and wine, as well as iced tea, coffee, a variety of milkshakes and a fountain soda. Catering is available. Delivery in the area of each of their three locations - Canton, Simsbury and South Windsor. Open 11:30-9PM five days a week; 11:30-10PM weekends. Kids menu $8.00

Due to covid we are Trying to avoid crowds, still ordering pickup. Online order - pickup time was 6:52. Pizza not ready until 7:35. Meanwhile waiting in crowded lobby for order to be ready. But, food was good.

We have always enjoyed the food at Joe Pizza, and would often call for delivery if we didn't want to go out for dinner. The last time we ordered from them I was very disappointed in not only the delivery but also the reaction from the restaurant. A simple order, large pepperoni pizza and a salad with 2 portions of their salad dressing. I called in an order at 5:07pm, was told it would take 45-60 minutes - no problem, that was the standard time frame, but our orders would always arrive in 30 minutes or so because we are only a couple of miles from the restaurant.
At 6:25, almost an hour and half later, I called and was told they got 'slammed' right after I called. What that had to do with my order I don't know since I called before they 'got slammed'. I was told it was leaving right then and would be delivered right away and they would comp 1/2 the price for our troubles.
Right away turned out to be another hour and 15 minutes. The pizza arrived at 7:45. The pizza was hard and dried out and we got 2 salads, and no dressing.
Oh, and the 50% discount? Never happened. My credit card was charged the full amount plus an extra $5.00 as near as I can tell based on the on line menu prices and sales tax, but I can't be sure because I never got a receipt. They apparently have started charging a surcharge for delivery.

Friendly staff. Great menu selection. Pizza was crisp and delicious. Generous toppings.

My card was billed more than what I put down after a dine in order. It wasn't a huge difference and I guess it could've been someone reading the total wrong and not doing the math themselves but still, double check your bank/card statement after dining here

Ordered chicken parm dinner. We drove there, picked it up, and drove home only to find out we had the wrong order. We figured they probably mixed up the to-go orders so we called to let them know we’d be driving back to get our actual order. They told us that they ran out of chicken parm and decided to make us something else instead! They said they forgot to mention that to us when we picked up!! No phone call to say “sorry, we’re actually out of chicken parm.” Or “can we make you something else instead?” Just decided to make and charge us for something totally different! What restaurant thinks that’s ok?
