Baker's Ribs

I like to give it a few days after an experience like this before I leave a review. I know food service can be tough and especially BBQ. So it's been 5 days since our visit. We came over here with my in-laws on a Friday, we had stopped at Q and Brew but there was an hour and a half wait. The in-laws being advanced in years, time is a valuable commodity so we were looking for something else. When we walked in to Baker's - there was only one occupied table in the whole restaurant. Uh-oh. There were two cars in the Drive-Thru, and the three team members behind the counter were working somewhat frantically to fill the order. We stood at the counter, unacknowledged, for an awkward amount of time. It felt like 10 minutes, but in reality was probably only 5. When we did get service, we ordered four orders of loaded fries - which it sounds like has never happened before, because the cashier got agitated and told the cook "just start dumping fries!" and he did a weird dance like he was being knocked off of his feet. So, we apologized for the large order and the cashier shrugged and said that's the last of the brisket. There was a 4 lb clod of brisket on the butcher table, but they trim all of the bark (!) and fat off, so there wasn't much there. Glum that I couldn't have brisket, I ordered a two meat plate with ribs and sausage. Later when the order came, I was somewhat relieved that I did not get brisket - I got to try a nibble of it on the loaded fries. I will post a picture of the rib jerky that I was served, you would think if you have the word ribs in your name - that you would serve up some dang good ribs. Not the case here.

For excellent barbecue and excellent service stop by Baker's ribs in Canton on the eastbound service road of I-20. Expect to be impressed by the attitude and the courteous staff and management they have working at this establishment. The mgr. Luis Zenon, and staff Justin and Montserrat we're all extremely courteous not only to the customers but also to one another. It was really inspirational to see these young people with the values apparently they were raised with coming out in public. Don't miss great food great service like no other . Stop by the next time you're in Canton.

When my parents lived in East Texas I would always stop here and get BBQ for them - a big treat for all of us. Stopped there again this week, and it was good, but not as good as it has been in the past. I asked for lean brisket, it wasn't. Sliced thin, it wasn't. The sides are usually the star of the show, but this time they weren't. The coleslaw was seriously over-seasoned, and the scalloped potatoes were a puddle of grease. I'm going to hope this was just a bad day, so I will hope for a better meal to report on next time.

We ordered two adult plates and a kid’s plate. The portions were good, and both the chicken and pulled pork were fresh and had a great smoky flavor. Green beans were DELICIOUS! The gentleman (owner?) was very kind and even treated us to free peach cobbler at the end of our meal. Prices are comparable to the chain Dickey’s, but the flavor here was better.
