Lucky Star Express

Location Washington Square. This has always been my favorite place to eat but over the past couple years the quality has declined. When the parents were in control the quality was top-notch but now the children have taken over and will probably run it into the ground. The eggrolls were empty and full of uncooked dough. The hot and sour soup had weird pork fat and tasted like cigarette ashes, I’m guessing they smoke. The fried noodles are stale and the shrimp fried rice was lacking in vegetables and flavor. I’m afraid this is the third strike and we will never go back, we always tried to give second and third chances. April 11 2022

Excellent food! Best place I've found since moving from Cali. The young guy is very nice! I ordered the lunch special before 3pm, I explained I could not get there till after 3, upon arrival the girl at the counter charged me full price, stating I was not entitled to the lunch price, which would've been ok, but her RUDE attitude, knowing I come often, was unnecessary.

Most of the food is pretty good but I feel like their quality is slipping. When I went here a few months ago, they forgot both of my eggrolls and rice... then I went again recently and the bourbon chicken was gross. It was expensive but not even worth it. The chicken was soft and didn't even have the consistency of chicken. Anywhere else that I get bourbon chicken from is grilled and has the texture of real chicken. The bourbon chicken from lucky start is mushy and covered in sauce... definitely won't be getting that again. Their beef lo mein is pretty good though.

Most order items are perfect. Crispy egg rolls. Good broth in won ton soup. Beef items great. Scallop items not so much; I think they use the water pumped versions, odd taste. Front entry door is still a problem. High vacuum from the fry station's exhaust fans keep the front door pulled TIGHT CLOSED.

Absolutely exceptional Chinese food. Lucky Star has quickly become my go-to, and I make the trip all the way from Alliance just to pick it up because it’s well worth it. Wonton soup is the best I’ve had, and their General Tso chicken, pepper steak, and dumplings are awesome as well. Friendly service, easy pickup process, all-around great place.
