Absolutely excellent food and phenomenal service. Was very busy when we went but you couldn’t even tell, our food came within a decent amount of time. Was surprised how much we got for cheap! Definitely our must go place when we come to the UP.

Service was great, and friendly. Atmosphere inside was typical of a decent local Mexican restaurant.. Outside they often have good music and it's a nice and comfortable courtyard. Food was good, I've only had their nachos. They were decent. Could have used more meat and toppings, but overall a nice place.

Loved this cute little place. It was a lovely evening so we sat outside. Out server was pleasant and knowledgeable, giving us suggestions on what to order. We went on a suggestion from a girl in Copper Harbor, raving about the thimbleberry margaritas. They did not disappoint! The fish tacos were very good. And an added bonus, there were a couple girls performing outside and they were fabulous! This little singer should be famous!!

Have tried a couple of different plates, but I have not been disappointed yet. Servers are kind and attentive and also have recommendations on orders for your tastebuds. Mix drinks are pricey. . Beer about 2.75- 3. Nice dining atmosphere on the patio also in doors.

This food was delicious, the service, 2nd to none. Browsing the wall hangings of vintage concert posters, animal mounts, bear skulls and Mexican apparel was super fun. Olivia, who kept our plates and glasses full this evening, was so great.

The thimbleberry drinks were really good. Margarita, cosmo, mojito, old fashioned. YUM. Tacos and chili rellenos were bland, but guy we met said aged t-bone was very good. Nice deck area.

I was surprised to find the most authentic Southwest cuisine this far north. An excellent steakhouse as well with pricing on aged steaks that you can not beat. If you're in the Keweenaw, you should consider Carmelitas.

The Thimbleberry margaritas brought us here, but the amazing bar staff was what prompted the second round. They had on point recommendations for other local late night spots and where the fun is.

So, first off staff is always fun to chat with. 2nd the selection is awesome with good Mexican, but also steaks and burgers for the non Mexican food lovers. Prices are decent and food has been great every visit we’ve have had over the years.

I was really impressed with the food and service at Carmelita’s. I tried both the chicken fajita and quesadilla, and I was happily surprised with it all. It’s kind of a Tex-Mex deal, but I like it better than other restaurants I’ve been to that lean more on the side of too spicy or overwhelmingly flavorful. It’s like a Midwest take on Mexican food, and it’s phenomenal. They have endless guacamole, salsa, and chips, and it was totally awesome (I ate a lot of guacamole). All around 10/10 would recommend!
