The Stand

One of my favorite restaurants in Calabasas. I highly recommend their chicken bites with ranch dip and Asian chicken salad. The pork belly bahn mi sandwich and ahi tuna Salad is also delicious. Customer service is always excellent and it’s a great spot to watch a game and eat too. ***Update*** Also tried their seared ahi tuna salad and it’s pretty solid especially with extra seared tuna. The flavor was excellent and tuna was seared perfectly.

The kind of place where you're excited when you arrive, but feel guilty as heck after you're done eating. It's hard to go light here and certainly not the place to go to if you're watching your calories. My friend and I had lunch here. We ordered our own items, but shared an order of Onion Rings. I had the Short Rib Grilled Cheese. This is a super intense Grilled Cheese. In fact, I think it may have too much flavor and that it was slightly salty. Also, a bit too oily for me to finish the entire sandwich. Overall, I really enjoyed The Stand. It's a big and spacious restaurant with both Indoor and outdoor seating. Several TVs to accommodate those interested in watching different sports channels at the same time. Definitely a family spot. Lots of parents with their little kids on this Sunday afternoon. Located in a large shopping center, so parking was super easy.

This is my first time eating here today at The Strand. I had the SHROOM BURGER with grilled chicken instead of turkey, adding tomatoes, onion and romaine. MAN! This burger 😢. The brioche bun melted in my mouth, the beefy sized mushrooms. Oh and let me add how tender and fresh the grilled chicken tasted, complimented by the garlic aioli sauce. Now throw in the thicker cut french fries. It was such a party of flavor in my mouth. This is not at all your typical burger spot. It was obvious with my first bite, this food was made with fresh/clean ingredients. What frozen patty! Thanks for the great service Tessa and Jose!

My first visit of the Stand was at the over 10 years ago at the Encino location. My, oh my, how they have grown in menu items and locations. The menu was originally mostly hot dogs and a few burgers, fries, beer and other drinks. Now they offer all sorts of sandwiches and salads, none of which I’ve ever tried because I’m hooked on the hot dogs. I’ve been searching for a good Chicago dog and the Stand offers an almost-perfect Chicago dog: natural case dog, mustard chopped onion, chopped tomato, dill pickle slices, neon-green pickle relish, topped with celery salt and sport peppers and served in a soft poppy seed bun. I say almost perfect because there are way, way too much of the toppings. I couldn't even taste the sausage in my bites and the juices from the toppings made the bun soggy. So after two or three bites, the bun keel disintegrated and the entire hot dog imploded. I was left with a big, messy pile on my tray, which I sadly finished with a fork and knife. Undeterred, on my return visit to the Stand, I asked for a Chicago dog with LIGHT toppings. This foray was much better and what I expected: tasty dog, delicious toppings. I rounded out the meal with some skin-on fries (unsalted so you have add your own) and a soda or beer. Yum. They also make a very tasty chili dog. The service is good: order and pay at the counter and they bring your food. There is a very good selection of drinks like beer, wine, fresh lemonade, ice tea and a futuristic multi-drink soda fountain. You will need to dig deep into your wallet or Apple Pay account becasue it’s not cheap. But the delivered value is far greater than Shake Shack or Five Guys. They also have a dog-friendly patio.
