First thought was "where's the volcano roll?" I was brainwashed by the way mainstream Americanized sushi places serve their food. Decided to get the Nozawa. The fish melts in your mouth, they aren't covering up mediocre fish with a ton of crap like other sushi restaurants - it's genuinely amazing in every way.
I also love that this place includes gratuity, every restaurant should eliminate the concept of tipping extra. The service was among the best I've ever had in the valley.
The best Sushi ever! Always super fresh, never fishy! No place compares!!
As a no reservations establishment Sugarfish requires you to walk in to add your name to a waitlist and then return when texted to do so. The wait was less than 30 minutes for weekday lunch. Not too shabby.
The quality of the fish is probably the best I’ve ever had. All of it was so richly flavored that I was full after just the salmon sashimi and albacore and salmon sushi. Concentrated protein and accompanying carbs have that kind of effect on you apparently.
Regardless of satiety I soldiered on and got through the parade of seafood set before me with only iced green tea, water and pickled ginger to puncture the oceanic wall I was hitting. Considering how tasty it was, don’t cry for me, Argentina, right?
Servers were pleasant and efficient pros, all of them.
The room was quiet, low key and styled in the most minimalistic manner, all good.
I would definitely return based on quality and value.
I had the “Don’t Think. Just Eat” and it was quite an experience. The Edamame definitely whet the appetite, as did the Tuna Sashimi with ponzu and chives. All was flavorful, but the most outstanding were Toro, Kampachi (very sweet, mild flavor), pink lobster, Sea Bream with shiso (lovely mint), but also the lobster hand roll (truly a warming delight) followed by the savory eel. I paired mine with Nigori unfiltered Sake which was a star compliment. Final note, I did order an Uni and was really surprised how mild and sweet a flavor that was. Certainly better than I’ve had elsewhere. I’m celiac, and brought my own Tamari. If you don’t like sushi, or are expecting tempura, don’t come. This is artful dining and superb.
When I say the best sushi I've ever had I absolutely mean it! The warm rice tips it right over into heavenly. I would trust me all day long if my stomach were bigger. Thank you
Had the Trust Me for lunch. Really tasty, melt-in-your-mouth, fish. It's a bit pricey for the amount of food you get, but we'll be coming back. We had reserved a spot for dinner the night before, but it was a 2-hour wait, so we came back on Sunday and waited a bit before they opened.
There is no better sushi place. My kid's took me here for my birthday and wow, I was blown away. Everything was so fresh. Really good stuff. I thoroughly enjoined everything that we ordered. I will certainly be back on my own!
