The atmosphere at this place is great. The log cabin was first built in the late 1800’s and the. Added to in the 1980’s. Has the look and feel of a western hunting lodge. Perfect place to have had our Christmas Eve dinner. Food though, was good, but not great, and the price was a little steep. The service was great, and you must Valet park your car for $20. If the food was better, the. This would have been a 5 star rating.

The Saddle Peak Lodge is a must visit for my family and I when we are in Los Angeles. It is a drive through Malibu and up the mountains to get to it but it is a gorgeous route even at night. Let me start off with saying I absolutely love this restaurant but if you are an animal lover it's a bit hard because it is a hunting lodge atmosphere with animal heads and pelts as decor and if that turns you off this may not be for you. The employees are all wonderful and the last time we went we wound up with a small wait and one employee took us on a guided tour of the lodge and told us all about the history of it (and some possible ghost sightings) right up until our table was ready. The food is wonderful, I really enjoy the Pink Lady Apple Salad, Brussels Sprouts, Mary's Chicken Breast, and sorbet trio. If you're a more adventurous eater my father really enjoyed the Chef's Game Trio of Emu, Elk, and Bison. It's a beautiful place in a gorgeous location with delicious food, what more can you ask for?

I really enjoyed the trip to this restaurant from Malibu. The food is really good, I couldn't sit outside because of all the flies, and bees. Inside we picked a table which was rocking. And the bathroom was really unsanitary.

We were there for a baby shower and it was fantastic! The lodge was gorgeous and serene. The outdoor dining area had a small waterfall that was extremely peaceful. The staff was excellent and their food was delicious. We will definitely be back!

Top-tier service and amazing food. All the meals are outstanding but do yourself a favor and try something different when you come here. The bison is GREAT! Tip is included as a 20% service charge and they don’t even give you an option to add more on the credit card slip so there’s no pressure if you’re on a budget. Perfect place for a special date for any occasion.

What happened with our favourite place? Same building full lights on ( not as romantic. New ownership.? Staff shortage, oh boy. Service is ok. That's it. Do not expect personality and attention. Never were offered a seco d service of bread nor butter... some items were under par ( dry chicken) . No knowledge of the wines available / offer suggestion, you are on your own. What would be a small issue in most places became an incident with no solution or we have to charge an extra 3% to refund a card and charge another. This after charging a flat 20% service charge ( taxable to boot). No problem solving skills and invitation to "join the club of the dissatisfied "guests!!! Wow!. Keeping guests waitting while supposedly checking with the manager is not cool. Coming back knowing that you are a returning guest instead and that we left 5 star before instead of working on issue. Wrong. I can remember my first meal there 34 years ago.( chilean sea bass with cactus juice sauce.) The waiter Leonard, the wine he suggested ( Frick Pinot Noir) and the manager Majic. Tonight "acting ( and bad as that) manager" did not even bother to bring his card and should remain nameless and let SPL be ignored until proper management , staffing and some pride would be brought back. Ps ignore the proper attire sign. Jeans and T shirts were ok tonight. Sad!

Food was just okay. Caesar Salad had too much dressing and didn't taste like Caesar. Oysters were very good and branzino was good. Server was very accommodating and had recommendations. Service was spotty. Difficult to get refills etc. Table water tasted unfiltered. Location and ambiance are wonderful. Valet is expensive at $10.

1st time back in 15 years…food great, service great, location & scenery & patios amazing, interior memorable…but prices are clearly OVERPRICED to make $$$$, understandable for a new owner focused on making $$$$, but the exorbitant drink costs & that TINY brownie dessert for $20, yes a MANDATORY 20% added for service/tip on everything, lowers the 5 score to a 4 score. Also note that the several young girl hostesses oddly huddled at the front desk seemed to NOT read or ignored my table type request. A mess, even once taken to the table THEY wanted us to sit in…but my wife found the nearby wall books & stuffed Pheasant on the wall fun. Screw the requested window view… Oh, & YES, when we arrived @ 5:30pm there was no parking attendant in the MANDATORY $10 “valet only” near empty front parking lot, so we parked & went into the restaurant, but when we left @ 7:30pm the parking guy now there seemed ANGRY we didn’t pay $$. Ya, no one there when we arrived! A money trap. Yes, 2 people, one app & drink & entree & dessert each, $400. Thank goodness our parking was $0. Enough to vomit over…
