Best fried catfish I have found in north Mississippi. Nice size portions for the price. Definitely off the beaten path! Going back tonight to try the steak!!!!!
I went for fried catfish and I was not disappointed. If you want true southern fried catfish with cornmeal breading, you will be pleased. The hushpuppies were amazing...there just weren't enough of them - I only had two and I don't remember them being on the appetizer menu or as an available side. The fried okra was prebreaded and not similar to the catfish as I had hoped. This seemed peculiar to me. The Mississippi Mud cake was very disappointing as it was very, very dry, but everyone else in my party seemed to enjoy their desserts. Overall, I was very pleased...but if you are having dessert, go look at the choices before you decide.
Once I saw the building...I knew I was at the right place. Definitely worth the drive. The Ribeyes we're cooked to a beautiful medium and the fish was well seasoned. Toast was buttery and good. The turnip greens were a little sweet for my tastes but they were still good. The highlight of the evening were the fried jack cheese bites. I also had a piece of their homemade carrot cake and it was great. Highly recommended!
This little country restaurant is the best! It is a steak and fish house but we just eat steaks. My wife and I both got the 16oz Ribey and they were cooked to perfection and had great tast to them. My son got the cheese burger and it was also good. The reason I don't give it a 5 star is their appetizers are just from a box and lack any luster. Their desert bar is awesome with everything home-made. Will visit again.
The customer service was nice. The steak and onion rings are really good. I love the home cooking food. You should try the cheese bites they are really good. And they don't fake the grill marks at that place it's real grilled food.
A hidden gem! Filet was cooked to perfection and could almost cut it with the fork! Amazing flavor and quick service. Get there early cause the place fills up pretty quickly
A generational staple of southern cuisine.
Some of my earliest memories are of the anticipation and thrill of sitting in the back seat of my grandmother's car rambling about how excited I am to feed the catfish.
The Chatterbox has A+ southern foods and deserts of all sorts. The only thing I would say better than them is the atmosphere.
I am writing this review today because I will be taking my son to feed the catfish for the first time today. I wish my grandmother was here to see it. Thank you Chatterbox.
We had ribeyes they were the biggest 14oz steaks i had ever seen. They looked delicious. The flavor was good. But for me, entirely too salty. I'll still go back and try the catfish.
Steaks were tasty, cooked correctly and well priced. Appetizers were piping hot. Desserts are dry, artifical tasting, not as described on the menu and not worth the money. Skip the desserts, all of them!
