Mac's Tavern

My family had a late lunch.I got a chicken salad with ranch It was pretty much your average chicken salad(And really pretty).My sister ordered Buffalo mac she said the mac was spicier than the wings. And she got cheese curd as a side and they were very good! My mom got a beet salad.My mom liked it because it had a lot of beets she also liked the dressing. My dad got grilled cheese with bacon jam.He said it had a lot of bacon jam. He got tomato soup for a side.My mom & dad got old fashioned & banana-son. My parents said the old fashioned was really good and the banana-son (an old fashioned made with banana infused jammesons) like liquid banana bread. And our waiter was really nice.We will definitely be back. 🍺

We were in Butte for the day, needed to grab lunch and found Mac's. What a great place to stumble upon! Our lunch was sooooo good and the staff super friendly. What a great little place! I wish I could have tried everything on the menu because our burger and Philly were DELICIOUS! And the fries...😋 Will absolutely eat here again next time we are in Butte!

Went to lunch today, after waiting almost 10 min we finally got a menu and water. I ordered steak and carrot tacos but was told I couldn't have it (even though it was on the lunch menu) because all the meat was downstairs. So I choose the kielbasa and pierogies. They were BARLEY warm. My boyfriend ordered a mushroom Swiss burger, well done and it was almost completely raw. Not impressed!

Things that I liked: —The bar seems like a fun, local place to drink. It has a stage and a bar staff that seems pretty invested in their patrons. —The server we had made sure we had our waters/tea glasses consistently filled. Things that were a bummer: —Our food took somewhere from an hour to an hour and a half to start arriving on a busy, but not overly hectic night of business. This was unfortunate considering we had been on the road all day and were starving. —Our waitress was not transparent about the wait times or our food. Whether she forgot about us or just didn’t tell us the kitchen had something happening, we didn’t seem to get much attention from her until we started asking about when we were going to get food. Even then, I had gotten my fish and chips, then managed to finish them before they got my side salad out. Again, not sure what the issue was, but until it was brought up we never got any attention from the waitress except her quickly whisking away water glasses. —Food: The fish was fine enough, as well as, the 90 minute side salad. There was no malt vinegar, which is strange for a establishment being marketed as an Irish tavern that also has 3 types of vinegarettes. The fries were pretty uninspiring. Very thin, over cooked, and generally kind of sad looking. The girlfriend had the bison burger which arrived with the bottom bun completely soggy from sitting in the burgers juices and didn’t really hit par with what many other places in Montana can offer. The kettle chips on the side were fine though. Summary: I think this place is well intentioned. It is veteran owned and as an active member of 11 years, I want to be supportive. However, the food is well below average and when served after a very, very long wait it just doesn’t make 30 dollars worth it to me.
