Gorgeous park! Some of the hiking trails are rocky with exposed granite outcroppings and can be uneven. I would recommend wearing boots. The views of the lake from multiple locations are amazing! Pets must be on a leash. Great spot for birding! One of the best state parks in Texas!
Great state park! We stayed in site 332 and had plenty of room. We were close to two clean restrooms with showers. There is access to the water but the entry point is a little dirty. The neighbors still got in and enjoyed the water. There are vending machine type spots to buy firewood and a general store. This is a popular park which books quickly but for good reason. Try it out, there’s something for all!
We like the hiking trails here. The terrain is exposed and decomposed granite outcroppings and trails. The trails are rocky, rugged, uneven and somewhat of a workout for most of us. We like the lake trail (park near the entrance gate) to woodlands trail, cross the paved road and go around the mountain and under the power lines to connect over to Pecan Flats, then head back across paved road and finish the loop to parking lot. BOOTS RECOMMENDED. RUGGED TERRAIN with gradual elevation changes. Love this hike.
We just spent 3 nights here in campsite 211. Awesome experience! We camped with 2 other families who were nearby and they had a great time also. There were 8 kids among us and this park is great for kids. Make sure bring your fishing tackle or rent/borrow some from the camp store which is well stocked. We also rented kayaks and paddled around which was beautiful. There’s lots of shade and the lake is constant level so you can always cool off in the water. Make sure also to visit Longhorn Cavern State Park which is a short drive from Inks Lake and a great tour. We will be back!
Inks Lake State Park TX has great campsites with the majority of the RV sites on the lake and with lake views. Friendly staff and very clean facilities.
Pets must be on leash. I hiked the Pecan Flats Trail with my 81 years young mother. 1000FT Overlook of Inks Lake is a must see. The views of the lake and the Texas Hill Country is breathtaking. In one of my photos you can see a castle! Yes! There is a castle in Texas! Castle Falkenstein
Absolutely love this State Park... So much so that my partner and I chose it as a spur of the moment spot to test out the new car camping gear gifted for Christmas. One night only as the camp grounds were booked up for the next few days and it was still a perfect little escape! We will be back for more soon!
One of the best state parks in Texas if not the best. Starting from the park staff, souvenir shop, maintenance crew, location, amenities and conditions of trails and roads everything is great. We're going back this summer. We took our kayak and the no-wave zone of lake was simply perfect. I saw several other families on their paddle boat and etc. The dump station location is central. View from different hilly areas is simply amazing. We had a great experience.
Top 3 state parks in Texas for me. Very very suitable for camping and day passes. The lake is very beautiful and you can hike in multiple places.
Campsite 256 was near the lake. So, if you prefer a tent near the lake, then select campsite between 230-260.
