This is an excellent cafe. I've been coming here five or six days every week since April 2015. You will likely see me between 5:30 and 7 PM at the counter, usually enjoying an iced latte.
Highlights, in no particular order:
-The coffee is Groundwork. It tastes good. Even the decaf tastes good. Unlike Priscilla's, RTB's decaf espresso is not burned. I've been to RTB over 800 times, and I've always had a great cup.
(Note: The macchiato is a normal Italian macchiato--espresso "marked" with foam. Do not expect a caramel, Starbucks-style drink.)
-The service is very good. It's not "perfect", in part because the employees are trained to handle all tasks. There can be times when one barista is pulling an espresso, another one is making a juice in the back, and another barista is running food to a table, and no one is facing you when you get to the counter. They are trained to be efficient and get everything done. Do not get your knickers in a twist because they don't have eyes in back of their heads. Say hello. They will make you their first priority when they know that you're there.
-The decor and furniture are inviting. The music reflects the taste of whoever turned it on. Sometimes it's upbeat; sometimes it's relaxing. Don't be afraid to ask them to change it or turn it down slightly.
-The food is good quality and homemade. It's expensive. Rents in Magnolia Park have skyrocketed, in part because Romancing the Bean revitalized this section just east of Porto's. Their chicken curry sandwich is unusual, tasty, and top-notch. Their quinoa bowl and salad are very popular. Their entree salads are huge. I like their Caesar, but with baby kale. The dressing and croutons are homemade, and it's about a half-gallon of kale.
-The cakes... there are no words. They're not made in-house, but they're delivered regularly from local bakers. The best. Bring a friend and order one giant slice.
Friendly staff , Ground works coffee , really good food. Great environment- good acoustics. A weekly stop for me . Plus the owner is super cool.
Great lunch spot!
This is a great place for a quick dine-in bite. So many healthy options for salads and sandwiches. I got the Italian sandwich and an oat milk latte which was fantastic.
The vibe is great to hang out and do work, or catch up with a friend. It's not too quiet or too loud - just right!
Staff was super great, the space is quite wonderful, and honestly, the best... Other customers!! One patron even chatted with me bc he knew I wasn't from there and was really nice and fun! Great place for B/L and def delicious coffee.
Had lunch here and it was delicious! I had the Curry Chicken Sandwich. It came with a small mixed green salad, making it a complete meal. I could only finish half my sandwich. Their menu has great variety, I would definitely come back and try something else.
My go to coffee and avocado toast spot (served with edible flowers). Pastries and quiche are off the hook. The folks here genuinely care. Always a seat out front to enjoy Magnolia Park. Great neighborhood spot - the vibe is very friendly.
Came for the name, stayed for the pumpkin lattes. That's right, pumpkin LATTES in the plural form. I realize pumpkin drinks are divisive, but the fall drink fans like me, this place will warm your little autumnal heart. They had an entire list of fall drink specials, from pumpkin marshmallow to maple. I tried the pumpkin pie latte and it was absolutely fantastic - rich, creamy, comforting, and not overly sweet. I'll definitely be back to try more!
Be forewarned they did have wifi rules which I found a little odd, so don't come here and use a laptop in the morning between 11am-2pm because apparently it's not allowed? Kind of a weird and unwelcoming vibe with signs posted everywhere about who's allowed to use the wifi, when a laptop can or cannot be used, and how long you're allowed to sit at a table. However, the menu makes up for it. I'll definitely be back to try more because my latte was phenomenal! I'll probably stick to takeout though because it doesn't seem like they want people hanging around.
First impression: big. Big selection (food and drinks), big space (open, airy, and outdoor settings), and big prices. The drinks were good and the barista recommended a great pastry (basically a fancy Poptart!!!), but due to the cost it won't be a regular spot. Good when you wanna break away from the norm or catch up with friends.
Excellent coffee and menu selections. Stopped by during breakfast and the friendly staff and comfortable seating and atmosphere made for an excellent meal. The coffee is excellent. We ate the quiche and breakfast sandwich. Very very tasty.
