While the prices here are slightly higher than what I would normally pay for good 'cue in Atlanta, I'd still highly recommend checking out the terrific BBQ selection at PTL. The brisket was thick sliced (just how I like it), juicy & packed full of rich, smoky flavor atop a toasted bun. When paired with their vast selection of homemade BBQ sauces (8 or so), you've got yourself a real winner-AMEN! For my side, I decided to go with the collard greens, mainly because I've been on a collard greens kick lately. The greens here were pretty good. They were chewy with just the right amount of crunch from the stalk and the broth that they were simmered in had a slightly sour and tangy flavor, which is pretty standard to greens I've had elsewhere. Additionally, I enjoyed the addition of the pulled pork as it added a unique texture to this side.
Very good bbq and sides! Macaroni and Cheese was superb. Best Mac and cheese I've had in a long time! Sauce was delishes, and so was everything else. Best bbq I've had in a while. Will be back for sure!
Awesome food and customer service. Close by and convenient - so I'll always be back! :)
Excellent BBQ!. This was our first visit, based on reviews on Urban Spoon. It was REALLY good. Very nice staff. We like Memphis dry-rub style, and this definitely fit the bill. Ribs with a great crust, pulled pork that was tender and flavorful, and the sauces are great, at least the ones we tried. Sides are very good too: cole slaw, Mac & cheese, grit cakes, country potatoes. Can't wait to try the rest of their offerings. Had a bit of a wait for our food because they were training new kitchen staff the night we were there and there was a snafu, but the manager came over and explained and apologized. We will definitely go back.
YUM! The pulled pork was great as well as the carrot soufflé. We ordered the ribs to go because they were out of ribs when we got there & my husband wanted to try them.
This place is a real family operation. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is fun country folk.
The food is not overly smokey, always perfectly cooked, and there is a spectrum of BBQ sauces available to try.
Best Yet... Kids eat free on Sunday! Praise The Lard!
Delicious!. Best BBQ in the area... always passed this place and finally got to try it. Very nice people and great tasting food. Definitely eat here if you're in the area and craving BBQ!
Best BBQ I have ever had - Seriously!!!. I never write reviews and I am not someone who usually salivates over BBQ. With that said - You must go here and you must try their food. It was unbelievably good and we will definitely be back. Their ribs were easily the best tasting ribs I have ever tasted, seasoned perfectly, served just seasoned (never had it that way before), but juicy, flavorful and the taste of fresh pork with several different sauces ranging from mustard base, NC style, Lexington, hot, even hotter and "stupid hot" - which was fantastic. Their collard greens, grit cakes, mac and cheese (they make their own cheese!), carrot soufflé - all of it fantastic! Everyone must try their food!!! A 1/2 rack of ribs is easily enough food for two people - Way to go Praise the Lard - Our family loves your food!!!!!!
You Must Go!. Having just moved back to our beloved Hogtown, FLA (Gainesville), this is one of the few ATL-area restaurants I'm going to miss sorely. Meaning with actual pain. You can not go wrong here; each time you go back, it gets better --- and it's phenomenal on the fist visit! BBQ pork! BBQ salmon! BBQ chicken! How do they make it so tender and flavorful? Where do they get all that kewl art? Ask and the lovely, kind, quirky, generous owner and he will tell you a great story. Love the contrast of the hi-tech (esp. for Buford!) check out and the holster (you'll see). Do not leave the restaurant without trying the grit cakes. Or the fried okra that's the real deal - not the semi-nasty breaded frozen stuff, but the kind like my mom makes in a cast iron skillet that's more like sauteed. Or the greens. Or a dessert - you can't go wrong with any of them. And all the hot sauces are great. This place is about food as an art form. Praise the Lard, AMEN!
