Really yummy Ethiopian food in a relaxed family setting. We were seated outside and they had sick jams playing. We got the veggie platter and they just opened for Monday lunch but they made us a whole order fresh. You can tell they’re passionate about Ethiopian food and everything was absolutely delicious. The staff are also all super nice and accommodating. If you’re in the area definitely give it a try.
Owners are so friendly!! We went Friday and they were closed as I guess that are soft opening right now with Covid. Anyways, they were more than happy to make us food and it was delicious! Can’t wait to go back.
A wonderful family restaurant. The food is absolutely wonderful and the owner is a true gem! I missed this place during the pandemic and am so glad it’s back!!!
I usually never do take-out for Ethiopian food but in this circumstance I needed to and I was kind of scared of how they would pack up a platter...when I arrived it was packed PERFECTLY in flat pizza boxes. I was so happy. The owner really made sure I was taken care of, he even brought me out some amazing Chai Tea while I waited for a last item I mentioned when I arrived. I ordered 2 veggie platters between 6 people and there was more than enough food. It was DELICIOUS and FRESH. The inside is really cute too, I would want to go back and eat inside. The prices are very reasonable too. I recommend this restaurant for Ethiopian food 100%
Though they were shorthanded for a bit, service was really good especially considering we were a party of 10+!
Really enjoyed beef with rice dish with such delicious spices. Had the Chai Tea as well which was super tasty also. Definitely recommend a visit.
Lucy's Ethiopian is one of those small independently-owned restaurants that will keep you going back for multiple reasons.
First off, the food is excellent I highly recommend the kitfo, which is a ground beef based dish with various spices. It can be cooked anywhere between tartar to well, spiced mild to very hot. However, that does not take away from the wonderful flavors that make up their lamb, chicken, lentils, and various veggies. We have tried most things on the menu, and I have yet to taste something that I really didn't like. There really is something for everybody, vegetarians and vegans included.
Secondly, the people who own the store are amazing. Abba and Nyma have run the restaurant since it opened a few years ago. They are generous hosts, friendly, and have a lot of pride in their food. When you walk in, and Abba greets you, you'll understand what I mean.
When you go, be prepared to sit for a while. Bring your friends, sit, and take your time. Their food is not fast, but again, it is worth it. Afterwards remember to ask for the Ethiopian coffee and enjoy the show. He will roast the beans to order, and even cook them in front of you for a short time. Before grinding them and making them into fresh coffee. It's strong, but very enjoyable, word of warning, skip the cream and sugar. You won't need them.
They have the best organic food in Western New York and now they are about to add west Africa, Liberian Food to their menu 🇱🇷
