I came here for happy hour since it just opened in Park Slope. The happy hour is a pretty good deal - $1 oysters and prawns plus drink specials like $4 beers and $2 off cocktails. The oysters and prawns were fresh and they provided different sauces besides just cocktail sauce. There was a tarragon mayo sauce and a red wine vinegar sauce. We also ordered the seafood sausage and 1 lb of mussels in Far East sauce. The seafood sausage was a bit too salty for me. The mussels were fresh and I liked the sweet potato which was interesting. However, the bread was very burnt. I probably would just come back for the raw bar items. One big pro is that there's no tipping necessary. The prices include an 18% administration charge so that the staff make a decent wage which is nice.

I'll start by saying, as a first time eater of sea food I am so glad it happened at Prawn Shop and not elsewhere. I've only been there for a private event but the atmosphere, vibe and pleasant attitudes of the owners and employees makes me want to come back for me. They may be a little hole in the wall sea food shop but this little hole in the wall, serves up dishes that are unbeatable by far. Outdoor seating makes for some awesome times with friends in the summer. And a cute little indoor bar with a bartender who surely knows how to poor her drinks alright. I tasted the prawns and mussels and OMG! that chef knows a thing or two about seafood. They were so so good, I told my friends we need to go back soon. The chocolate smores pie makes me dream of the horizon when heaven and earth meet. Everything about this little seafood store is fabulous and on top of their game! They do support the local neighborhood and stand by the food and dishes they create. Oh and if you're into seafood, their Saturday brunch is something you'd want to try soon.

Newly opened seafood restaurant truly aims to please. Excellent service and the Happy Hour is solid with delicious $1 oysters and prawns. The prawns themselves weren't cleaned very well (vein), but the sauces that came with them along with the oysters were nice. The seafood sausage ($10) was a touch salty. The 1lb pot of mussels $14 were steamed nicely and fresh, and broth (Far East) had a mild curry flavor. Toast was a touch burnt too much, but was tasty. Recommend removing all the shells so that the mussels get to be soaked in your broth as the pot isn't very roomie and there isn't a lot of broth. The prices may be a touch on the high side, however there is no tipping which makes it overall fair.

So as I write this review for Prawn Shop, I'm eating at another (trendier) seafood establishment in the neighborhood- and it's lovely but shall remain anon. As I eat my meal in said classier seafood restaurant (with the more romantic atmosphere), I find myself WISHING I WENT TO PRAWN SHOP 😣 For my money, Prawn Shops food is more delicious, had better portions and a friendly, relax atmosphere. No frills, just good seafood, and a lot of it, AND it's sustainably sourced. The happy hour is an unbelievable deal. Get the lobster devil eggs and giant prawn cocktail (of course.) Don't go there for weekend brunch with your kids - go after work with a few friends. That's when Prawn Shop really shines. Oh the bill just came, it's almost $70. Yeah, go to Prawn Shop.

Went to this new place for the first time last week (March). They are trying very hard to make a great place. The menu is limited but I'm sure that's so they can focus on making each item great. We had the mussels which were good but the broth they were in came out only luke warm. A trip back to the kitchen and 5 more minutes or so didn't make it much hotter but the spice and flavor of the broth was so good we just ate it anyway. These folks clearly know how to prepare seafood and I'm sure in time they'll work the kinks out of their operation and their very quirky little space which clearly has cold-weather issues. Luckily it's warming up and prawns on their sidewalk tables sounds awfully good on a late spring evening! Good luck to these enterprising young restaurateurs.
