Review Angela's - Brooklyn

Beautiful food! Solid, not sugared Caribbean. A little pricey for the neighborhood but worth the price. Previous reviewers were correct about the jerk chicken drippings, it's where the best of the flavors are. The plantains were perfectly cooked and caramelized. Goat curry was the winner here, lush, rich, and not over-spiced. All served by a man whose velvety voice I want on tape to listen to when I want to feel comforted and safe.

Came for the great local reputation and was not disappointed... special was 5 hour slow roasted jerk pork; great German beers on tap thanks to Dale behind the bar; and a fantastic rum cake to end ... even got to thank Angela personally. I will be back regularly.

Spectacularly good Caribbean food from fresh local producers and an excellent selection of beer served with charm in a warm and cozy environment. Just relax and let it happen.

Beautiful and delicious Caribbean's food to enjoy. Strongly recommend Oxtail and Curry Goat.

“Proper thing” ... When the chef said that this dish takes a entire hour to prepare, I was a bit confused. After this succulent dish came out the presentation and taste made with the wait!

We came here on a one off day since we were in the neighborhood. We did late lunch and man was the food awesome. This place is run by a family and I think it's some of the best home cooked food ever. We had the goat curry and it was perfectly spiced and cooked with the meat falling off the bones. Comes with rice and we also had drinks. The server was super attentive and helpful in making recommendations and answering questions. The decor is awesome too! I love the bar. I would say it's a small place, with about 5 tables and seating for 3- 5 people at most per table. It gets packed in the evening so maybe call ahead if you want a seat. They do pickup but no delivery. It's in a cool heritage street in BK as well. I recommend.

I ordered Curry Chicken and a Ginger Beer, it was deliciously amazing!!!! Homemade Ginger Beer was super smooth and tasty. My curry chicken was a generous portion and served beautifully on two separate plates. I would recommend this restaurant to locals and people visiting the area! Absolutely wonderful with great customer service.

Great place! Jerk Chicken was amazing! Sides were all wonderfully seasoned. Pineapple tea was very good too. We also ordered Salmon which took 25 minutes, cooked to order. Small place so it gets hot on warm summer days, so we took order to go. Nice staff! Check it out..

Great food; small but filling portions, mid pricing . I just wish the restaurant was larger and had a more upscale decor, and that there was a cocktail menu (they only have beer and wine). The food is definitely elevated Caribbean cuisine that is very tasty, high quality, fresh and well seasoned. I’ll be back.

I have to be honest everything about this restaurant was amazing. From the customer service, to the food, and even the desert. I advise who ever goes there to try their rum cake with Ice cream. It is so amazing. Let me not forget about the steam snapper fish. You can see that they put their foot into, especially the season. All of my friends plate were clean. This is officially my favorite restaurant. You can see taste the love in the food. The food had me dancing. This restaurant deserves 5 stars and more.

The oxtail was amazing! Service was outstanding! Jerk pork was the perfect amount of spiciness! Would come back every time. German beer on tap that paired perfectly with our meal. Perfect weather to eat our dinner outdoors

Arguably the best restaurant in the neighborhood. I've been around here for 4 years and this is the only place I swear by. Your food may take awhile - this is true- but that is because it is no cheap thrills cooking. Perfectly spiced and prepared food, handmade with fresh ingredients by Angela. Enjoy some of the finest choice beers on tap in a remarkably comfortable and unpretentious restaurant while you wait. If you can't hang than, well, there are always cheap thrills elsewhere.

Amazing, perfectly cooked flavors and textures. Fresh, obviously, cared for product. Service was intuitive and relaxed. We had a wonderful time and had no clue what we were in for when we happened upon it coming up from the subway. Drink in the reggae and take your time. An experience to savor and enjoy.

👍🏾Cute place, warm welcome and delicious food.👌🏾 Given the big portion (small eater), we skipped the appetizers and directly had the Goat (not spicy) and the Jerk Chicken (mild) with the unique plate of sides (vegetables, rice and plantain). All three were greatly seasoned and tasty. The rum cake, as a desert, was a nice change of the usual chocolate cake. Only cons 👎🏾 is that it's a long wait. Not to the point of removing one star but definitely not a place to go to if you're in a rush.

The Guyanese food here is mouthwatering. Please do yourself a favor and check out this tiny peace of heaven. The service is outstanding and the chicken is beyond this world. The prices are really ok for the quality, the menu is small but is has something for everyone. Don't miss this opportunity to taste Guyana.

Went here last week and thoroughly enjoyed their food, atmosphere and my company. Appetizers are tasty but way too small in some instances. Dont let that stop you from going and enjoying..

This place is the real deal. Food is the best in the neighborhood, high quality ingredients, I can't wait to go back. Best jerk chicken I've ever had, vegetables are flavorful and perfectly prepared, nothing too salty or greasy.
