This is an indispensable neighborhood spot. Authentic, cafeteria style Dominican food. They have many roast meats options, lots of stews, puff pastries that looked similar to empanadas, and different kinds of rice as well as beans. They also do a variety of soups.
The lady who made my plate was so sweet and gave me recommendations, and filled my plate with HEAPS of food, thank you!
The roast pork with red beans and rice was delicious. The pork was succulent and generously portioned. They put a few spoonfuls of meat sauce over the food which made the plate extra juicy and flavorful.
Very cheap prices! Best value on Myrtle Ave 100%. My plate of sooo much rice, beans and roast port was only $11. It was really two servings worth of food.
They also do a lunch deal for $10.
I am so glad I tried this place out. I will be back! The roast chicken looked amaaaazing!

Everything on the menu here is great. From the pernil, chicken, rice, plantains and even the salad.. You can't go wrong and there's plenty of space to sit and eat as well. The staff here are super friendly as well..

Everything on the menu is so delicious i been eating at this Latin restaurant for years cause the food is always fresh and taste so good. Through out the years i had everything on the menu and not once have i ever encountered something wrong. Pretty decent food and what has turned out to be a bargain if a deal given the area and recent inflationâŚI had the chicken and peas with their roast chicken. Both really good especially the rice which was great texture and tasty.

I had gotten 2 orders and a side of plantains. It was baked chicken with rice and beans. It was amazing. The plantains were delicious. It was a little pricey but it was worth it for the food I had ordered. The staff is really nice and the service was quick. Would definitely go back.

This is a small restaurant on Myrtle Ave, closer to downtown Brooklyn. They offer traditional Spanish/Caribbean (Puerto Rican/Dominican based foods). The food is tasty and very affordable. They also have beers and a small selection of wine. The music is a bit too loud for conversation, but loud enough to have a great time with friends. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but if you happen to be in the area, it's worth checking it out.

El Cofre is consistently delicious with large portions and the best quality ingredients. The pernil (roast pork) is always tender, juicy, and exactly what I need with the crunchiest, most well-seasoned skin. The first pernil I ever had was from El Cofre and Iâm always slightly disappointed whenever I eat pernil anywhere else; even homemade pernil isnât as good. The staff are kind, bilingual, and amazing at what they do. Skip the chains and get your pernil and other Latin Caribbean cuisine at this affordable small business.

The food, atmosphere, and everything is perfect! Wouldn't expect anything less. Highly Recommended through and through. Highly Recommended: What I advise everyone to do when rolling up to here to relax read, work, have a meeting, study, or whatever is to call ahead to get a feel for how busy it is, and or check out the GOOGLE peak times estimator as it's USUALLY right. The worst is when you show up ready to get your write-on and there's no seats, and about 15 people ahead of you waiting for people to stop... whatever it is that they're doing. Get early, and just because you bought doesn't mean there's a seat for everyone!

I'm so glad i found this spot, having lived in Puerto Rico for 3 years the place hits the spot anytime I'm craving Latin food. Food is fresh, tasty and good quality. The prices are super reasonable for the area especially the $10 lunch special and the portions are definitely on the larger side. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is pretty nice too and the place is kept clean. Highly recommend for some delicious cheap Latin food.

Every time I eat here I feel like I got a wholesome home cooked meal from my mom or grandma. Definitely 5 stars for this flavorful spot, where the prices are affordable for anyone too! GRACIAS!
