Review Haenyeo - Brooklyn

The place is small and casual but still cute to dress up for, good date place intimate for a good dinner thats not too pricey. I got the school girl drink it was sweet bubbly and didn’t taste like alcohol so i recommend! We got the wings and seafood pancake. Wings were great seafood pancake was crispy but lacked flavor. We got the short rib and the whole fish. Short rib was tender and fall off the bone but the sauce was just oily drippings and wish it was thicker. The whole fish was fresh and lovely. Service was quick but we felt ignored by our initial server but everyone else was nice! Would i go back yes $140 for two appetizer, two meals, and a cocktail is not bad!

Haenyeo is very cool! Authentic korean food with a twist. Had a nice time ordering some sake with friends. Both the dungbok fundido and the pork korean barbecue were very good. They are not for you, if you can’t handle spice though (my friends had a hard time with their dishes). Did not care for the beignet dessert though. Overall, want to go back!

Super delicious Korean food at an upscale cost but worth it. We came for my wife's birthday and for having tried Korean food in the neighborhood and not being entirely impressed, this one took the cake. Had the dwaeji bulgogi wrapped in perilla and samgyupsal which was phenomenal and full of flavor. Enjoyed the crispy jeon and the intense flavors of the uni bibimbap which was served in a stone bowl that kept it hot the entire time. The pepper marg was an experience you had to try, and the beignets were just donuts that were light and powdery but not necessary. Overall would highly recommend for amazing food.

Came here for our wedding anniversary. The food was amazing. The bulgogi and sablefish were exceptional! They forgot to bring out appetizers so the waiter apologized by bringing them later and for no charge. It’s a bit loud inside, they could work on their sound dampening. Other than that we had an amazing evening and we will come back to try the rest of the dishes.

We went here for boyfriend’s birthday and loved it. We heard about it for two reasons: the scallion pancakes and the Merle the Pearl drink. So we got both and of course they were great. Also recommend the spicy margarita as well. It’s ultimately a smaller, more intimate space, but we didn’t feel like we were yelling to hear each other or that other people were seated too close to us. Our server was awesome, she was very kind, attentive, and someone we would go on to describe as “great vibes.” Boyf got the duck, I got a vegetarian bimimbap which was not on the menu but they were happy to accommodate. You could get it with tofu and with an egg or no egg depending on if you’re vegan. Or just hate eggs. 💅🏼. Anyway, loved it here. The whole evening really felt like a special occasion and we both left feeling really happy (and very full).

We had a reservation for 10 people for dinner on a Friday - great service, appetizers (small plates), and entrees! Haenyeo has a great atmosphere of bar/restaurant, and the service was excellent for our larger group! I appreciate that a dessert was brought out for our friends birthday! Small but mighty wine list; many people got cocktails as well and all were liked! The entrees were my favorite part - ojingo bibimbop was a HUGE portion, perfect spice level, and overall one of the best dishes I've had in a long time! Crispy rice as an appetizer is a must as well! (Poor photo quality lol)

Loved my dinner experience at Haenyeo- perfect for a nice dinner with friends! I had never tried Korean food before and am not great with spicy food, so I was delighted to try the bulgogi and the yache pajun. The dukboki was definetly more on the spicy side but I still really enjoyed it. The service and atmosphere were also wonderful. Would come back to have the bulgogi again - it was so fun to build my own dish and the options were all great!

Haenyeo is one of our favorite restaurants in Park Slope. The food was excellent from start to finish with a particular highlight being the pork bulgogi. We found the cocktails a bit hit or miss - the flavor profile on a few of them was a bit overwhelming. In contrast, the sesame crème brûlée dessert was less unique than we expected. But overall an excellent dining experience and we will definitely return.

Amazing Korean restaurant in Brooklyn. Every single dish is outstanding but the bulgogi is a must try.

Korean fusion cuisine in a fine dining atmosphere. Food are very tasty and love the crispy wings, Korean style pancakes, black seabass, crescent duck breast and last the dessert sugar dusted beignets is the bomb. Dukboki Fundido is one the favorites for most people but too spicy for me. Overall is great experience. Not a very big restaurant but good size. Service is excellent.

Excellent, unique dishes, and attentive wait staff. Prime outdoor seating and cozy, cool bar seating inside (plus tables inside, of course). We had the raw oysters, grilled oysters, crudo, fried scallops w/ uni, scallion pancake, and the popular cheesy thing. It was all quite good and I wouldn’t hesitate to order any of them again. The cocktails were reasonably priced, great tasting, and well matched to the dishes. Like liked it a lot lot.

This place is absolutely amazing. Came here recently for a friends birthday and it did not disappoint. We ordered multiple appetizers, a couple of entrees, dessert, and everyone got a variety of drinks (I recommend Strawberry Fields) and literally every single dish was packed with flavor and deliciousness. I can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu! Not to mention the outdoor seating is super cute with plenty of space between other parties. Our waitress was super nice (and hilarious) and even the owner came to check on us and he was just as sweet and hardworking. HIGHLY recommend stopping by here if you're in the Park Slope area.

Absolutely delicious. The highlights were the chicken wings, scallion pancake, sablefish, but everything was great. The cocktails were tasty and innovative. The vibes are also nice and not too noisy inside. Definitely recommend and would go again.

Delicious meal! Came because of a friend’s recommendation and was not disappointed. We were able to snag a table outside without a reservation, luckily. Very easy to share dishes, if you wanted to. Looking forward to coming back soon!

First off, the food is wonderful. It’s precisely the quality I expect at the price point + a little more. I always get skeptical of “fusion/high-end korean”, but Haenyeo nailed it. I expected the deokbokki to be tacky, but it was unique, tasty and goes so well with the pajeon. For entrees, if you’ve ever wanted to know what it feels like to have a literal mouthful of sashimi grade tuna, the Hwe dup bap is great. So we know the food is great, but what really made the night was our server, David. He was kind, witty, and exactly the type of guy that makes you think “wow, he reminds me a lot of my childhood friend” or at least someone you wish you knew growing up. Huge shoutout to David. His cocktail and wine recommendations were spot on (I had the Squid and the Whale), and he was just the right amount of attentive while keeping my water topped off. This is a really great spot for a date night or to switching up the pace when your dinner habits are starting to get boring.

3.9.19 - Tables fill up fast for the first seating, so make sure you get there close to open if not at the open or you can be waiting up to 45-60 minutes for the next seating. They have standing tables that can accommodate parties between 2 and 6. Tonight there was a party of 10, but I'm not sure if tables were assembled to accommodate. We ordered the crispy spicy wings, zucchini pancake (flavorless, requires the sauce), jalapeno chicken, short rib bbq with lettuce wraps, and spicy soft tofu seafood stew. Everything was very good. The beef was very tender; both chickens were tender and juicy; and the pancake was not oily, but it needed the sauce that came with it to add savoriness. The cocktails are okay, nothing that stands out. The staff is on point. The kitchen took a little bit of time to push out our entrees, mainly because everyone sat at the same time, and I'm assuming all the orders were put in almost at the same time, too, so there was definitely bottleneck or something else happening in the back. I will repeat to try the rest of the menu, but there's nothing that has the power of the Force to bring me back.

Hit and misses at this place. The wings, the watercress salad and the braised mackerel were all excellent. The salad especially was amazing. I want the recipe!! The mackerel was really tasty as well. It took me back to Korea for sure. The bulgogi was solid but I wanted it a bit more grilled, ideally over charcoals, to have more flavor. The bouillabaisse was ok but simply didn’t go well with the rest of the menu. The dukboki with the cheese was interesting but I personally wouldn’t order it again. This place, with its nice ambiance and good service, has promise. I plan to go back and try other dishes.

Delicious food, a tad overpriced for portions sizes. But everything tasted great! Appetizers: dumplings, rice cakes, chicken wings. All really small, not much to share. Entrees: bulgogi, duck breast were good. Desserts: chocolate cake, crème brûlée were amazing. Their heated outdoor seating is as good as can be - overhead heater in an almost-fully enclosed wooden shed. Just remember to shut the door.
