I went with my friends for the oktoberfest celebration. Food was great, the music very authentic and broad variety of German beer

I went to the Black Forest for the first time Sunday (10/1) and was pleasantly surprised. Food was great and exactly what you expect for a Beer Garden, and the staff was fantastic (especially the manager that day). Looking forward to going back in the near future

My Mother is German, I lived in Germany for five years as a young man, and I traveled to Germany as a teen each Summer. I have traveled all over the US and this is hands down the best German food I have had, perhaps to include in Germany. Just fantastic. Schnitzel was crisp, sauerkraut was just tangy enough, spätzle was not chewy but perfectly al dente. BRAVO!!!

The atmosphere is as largely exciting as the volume of beer you can enjoy here! 2L Dunkel Boot with Jumbo Pretzel, French Onion Soup, and Bratwurst. Awesome food, great staff, incredible beer selection! Prost🍻

reserved a long table in the back garden to celebrate my birthday. it was a perfect evening. the team took really good care of my friends and i. it was such a good evening. we were about 13 people. recommend coming here to celebrate as a big group. or renting one of the little chalets in the back for a smaller group. in any case highly recommend.

Loved atmosphere at this bar. Nice beer and delicious pretzels. Vegan burger and sausage were mediocre but I really appreciate them having plant based options. It didn’t make our top 5 German bars in the city list

Had a great time in the backyard with several friends, celebrating my birthday. The beer was superb - and I should know as a German - the food was great - the service was impeccable and always there when it was needed and so friendly and adept dealing with a large group. Had a thoroughly enjoyable time - and will be back

These guys at the Smith Street location hosted a birthday party for myself and 17 people last night. The manager helped me select the vegan and regular options for my guests and personally kept in contact with me several times during the week preceding my event. The food was absolutely amazing (their sausage plate was exceptional) and the service personnel was out of this world with efficiency and promptness. I can't wait to plan another dinner party with them.

I absolutely love coming to Black Forest Brooklyn, and the sociable space they provide the neighborhood. Beyond and excellent kitchen, or the German beers not available anywhere else, is the communal public house quality of their space. Whether it’s a coffee in the daytime with my laptop catching up on emails; or a half liter for happy hour with a warm pretzel - the restaurant welcomes individuals or groups alike to its communal space. Offering both face to face servers and self-service QR codes posted on the long tables and biergarten helps manage every party’s needs. I’ve spent many afternoons reading in the garden impressed how well the staff manages waves of brunch guests or children’s’ birthdays without impacting others or solo patrons like myself.

Such an awesome spot. Large indoor and outdoor area. Options outside in both the front and back. Huge drink menu with a diverse draft list. The food is also great. The bar food is GREAT, and the salads/cleaner options are good.
