Happened in on their soft opening, and it’s a welcome addition to the ‘hood. Having lived here over a decade, we’ve visited the Family Store many times and were always impressed with the quality of the food. The quality at South Brooklyn Foundry has stayed the same: flavorful quality ingredients and on point execution. It’s billed as New American, yet keeps the some of the flavor of the Levant, and surrounding area. The space is open, comfortable with city details like exposed brick, plumbing turned into sconces and deeply grained wood, with a photo of Bay Ridge circa 1940s dominating one wall, and a raised counter area for dining and drinking. While they only have a beer and wine license, the cocktails were quite good, including one with Lillet, cucumber and sparkling wine. The salad came as a single small head of lettuce, quartered with a sprinkle of leaves and Manouri cheese. My entree of perfectly cooked duck breast on a bed of sweet-potato puree, and carrots and broccoli rabe was spot one. Cleaned the plate. My wife’s brisket with farro and mushrooms was likewise cleaned to the bare plate. It has a small menu but packed with things we wanted to try. Not cheap—but neither expensive—the quality is worth it.
I always thought The Family Store, next door and run by the same owner (Sam Dabas), was the best restaurant in Bay Ridge, by far. Only thing being, the food had to be taken home and heated up. Now, with his new restaurant (SBK Foundry) open, Sam has the 2 best restaurants in Bay Ridge. One for sitting down in a comfortable, rustic looking setting and one for grabbing awesome food to be heated up at home. Either way, either place, you're getting great food prepared by one of Brooklyn's most wonderful chefs.........but don't miss the restaurant. The drinks, atmosphere and service (and food of course) is top-drawer.
Cocktail menu was unique. Sangria was delicious. Food was amazing. Service exceptional. Definitely will return
A few hours ago, I visited this place and received a warm welcome from Nicholas (Nick) and the rest of the staff. He introduced me to some of their standout dishes that had undergone impressive transformations since their appearance on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Among them were the Chef's Burger, the Eggs Benedict Bowl, and another dish that slips my memory.
Ultimately, I opted for the Crab Cake Scrambled Florentine Toast, served with spinach and hollandaise sauce on sourdough. The dish was not only delicious but also fresh and appetizing. What's more, it was reasonably priced, and they even offered complimentary water with a refreshing touch of lemon. With such a welcoming atmosphere and delightful cuisine, I'm looking forward to returning for another visit soon. Nicholas (Nick) and the team made my experience memorable, and I can't wait to explore more of their revamped dishes and enjoy the inviting ambiance once again.
I hosted a baby shower there this weekend and Kelly ( the owner ) made every step of the process a breeze ! She was so easy to get in contact with and answered all my questions no matter how silly they were . The staffing was amazing and helped set up all the decorations and made sure everything was absolutely perfect . The food was amazing and cooked to perfection ! 10/10 would highly recommended !
The burger was great
The fries were great
The wings weren't good
The soda should be bottomless or refillable
The place design is unique and nice
The tables and chairs are uncomfortable
The host was great
The price too too much for what you get but the vibe makes up for it.
Overall a great dinning experience.
I can’t say enough great things about South Brooklyn Foundry! Stopped in for brunch to try something new and I’ll absolutely be back. The menu is thoughtfully crafted and so delicious! You can really taste the quality and care put into every dish. The entire atmosphere is so inviting and the service is some of the best I’ve ever received. Everyone is so friendly. Truly a lovely experience.
What a great find in Bayridge. Can't believe they've been around since 2016. Such great food, delicious combination, great atmosphere and staff. Definitely highly recommended for a great meal for dinner. And the sangria was unique and delicious! Wish I had more room for more food. I guess we'll have to come back. 😁
We were a part of seven for Mother's Day and it was sooo yummy. I was a bit worried that the kids (ages 6, 10 and 11) wouldn't find something they liked but it worked out so well. They had a short stack of pancakes for the littlest. One of the kids had french toast sliders, which were delicious. It is a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich with french toast as the sandwich bread. The green eggs no ham is basically huevos rancheros and was my personal favorite.
We were a bit squished in the round corner table but they were busy with large groups for Mother's Day.
First time at the South Brooklyn Foundry, and it was SO GOOD! Great service by Nicholas who gave us suggestions about their specials. Small plate Dates wrapped in bacon (really delicious) and Brussel Sprouts as well tasty. Had the Tuna over broccoli rabe and red mashed potatoes, DELICIOUS. Spinach salad was as well really good.. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. Will definitely be returning to try other plates on the menu.
For dinner I wanted something different. Ordered from South Brooklyn Foundry. Decided on a Burger/fries plus the Burrata dish. Burger cooked perfectly med well, homemade french fries. The burrata was fresh and comes with soft bread. Everything was delicious, and had such rich flavors. Would have been 5 stars but downside, delivery took a longggggg time.
Ahhhmazing... staff are very kind, food takes a bit long, but worth the wait. As they say "we don't take shortcuts" and it really shows. I looooved their ravioli and my bf said he's had one of the best burgers with them.
