Casa Calamari

The delivery guy was rude....Earlier in the day someone stole a delivery package from my home. Therefore, I wanted to be extra cautious of who was ringing my bell, even though I knew my order was on its way.....He kept saying delivery, and I said where from, three times., He then proceeded to say, "Delivery? Or No Delivery?....Finally he said, "Casa Calamari" They only gave me one meatball. However the Meatball and Raviolis were very good. The Chocolate Cake was very tasty as well.

This place and it’s owner Leo have been in a staple in bay ridge for 25 years. Great food, best square slices in town, grandma slice to rival even the kings of neighborhood grandma slices (who’s name I shall not mention), big portions, and everybody knows Leo cares about the community. When COVID first hit and for many months they were donating food to police dept, hospitals, firehouses, etc. They always have a presence at every neighborhood event and always do the right thing. They really do have amazing fried calamari! It is better in person though so it stays crispy. They don’t over cook it and there is plenty of them in one order - enough for at least 3 people if it’s just an appetizer. Their pasta is okay - usually better the next day as leftover because the sauce sits. They have outdoor seating in the front and side but it’s self-serve most of the time. It’s not an actual restaurant - more of a takeout place with convenient seating outside because the chairs and tables aren’t great.

I liked the old space on 86 th street a bit more...Owner is friendly , neighborhood lively. Food remain very good fresh plump shrimp , great greek salad, and the calamari are fresh and tender..only took a half star away bc the space is a little tight. And very reasonably priced ...and my kids loved the pizza. Maybe add a gluten free pasta , but u can't go wrong with the food
