Another excellent meal at James… the burger and steak are standouts and both change seasonally so that they are always new and interesting. The snow peas were fresh and nicely prepared for season starter. Two thumbs up!
I would recommend a James for brunch! I haven't been for dinner, but I had an amazing brunch a few times now. Lemon ricotta pancakes are AMAZING. Bloody Marys, crispy eggs, and truffle fries were GREAT!
Well balanced, well thought out, well executed unique dishes. Friendly pro service. Outdoor seating is comfortable. Nice cocktails and local craft beer.
The food here was good but a bit pricey for what we received. They also had misprinted the price for a glass of wine and tried to argue with us when we pointed out that they'd charged us 20% more than advertised. The cavatelli was very tasty and I enjoyed my veggie bowl.
Great burger, which comes with crispy savoury fries. Varied options for drinks, alchoholic or non-alchoholic, even their coffee holds up. Despite being crowded and a bit chaotic at their busy time, the staff are polite and your orders will be served in a timely manner.
The outside seating is uncomfortable though.

My favorite place in NYC, bar none. Be sure to get a reservation. I can't begin to describe how exquisite this place is, in every way. Gorgeous interiors. Massive floral arrangements brush the ceiling. Tall quilted leather booths. Candlelight throughout. Small, personable, incredibly warm and friendly vibe. The menu is perfection... Hard to decide, but had the scallops in watercress sauce with a side of parsnips, and the flourless chocolate cake w/ rosemary ice cream. Rosemary ice cream! It's just... James is just so exquisite, warm, and magical in every way.
Lovely, vintage decor, cosy setting, fabulous fresh food, craft cocktails and extremely friendly & attentive service. Highly recommend James for a romantic dinner for 2 or for a group get together. Loved it!
Casual place with attentive service and a nice interior. It's one of the best places in the neighborhood to bring visiting family. (Next to us was a "meet the parents" outing that seemed to be going well) I had the sea bass special, which was good, but heavy on the salt and oil. Oysters were great. All in all, a solid pick.
Absolutely love this place. It is one of the hidden gem in the beautiful neighborhood of prospect heights. First, be ready to pay a lot, but worth it compare to a lot of other NYC establishments. They make great cocktails. The food are all very well made. Portion is a bit smaller to my taste. Service is great. Your typical hip Brooklyn restaurant decor. 10/10 would recommend! One pro tip, if you like ice cream. Skip dessert, and head to ample hill right down the street.
James, a remarkable local restaurant in “normal” times has excelled at reinventing itself during our current pandemic. Provisions available for takeaway (I love their jasmine tea and olive oils, and rotating fresh finds from the farmers market) are plenty. Tables nicely spaced are outside on a first come basis. Hthe food is still delicious, the people still friendly and helpful.
