Chela Modern Mexican

Chela and our server Yubitza were an absolute delight for a weekend brunch! We are a big Mexican food and brunch fans on the food were absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The service was even better and friendlier. I wish we weren't moving out of NYC so we can come back here again and again.

There are very few places in this (or surrounding) neighborhood(s) that offer equally SPECTACULAR food, atmosphere & service. Ronny is a Master Chef & exemplary Host... He & his team are cream of the crop & it is evident in everything about Chela. Two pro tips for you: THE RIBS & THE ARABIC TACOS!!!!!!!! GET THEM!!!

We loved the complimentary nacho and salsa, the salsa is delicious. We ordered their mole: it was bitter so I do not recommend. Their steak was slight, not good quality. It was cooked perfectly but the steak itself was really poor quality. The ribs were alright. We also order the aguafresca rojo, which was fresh and delicious. Their service is amazing! Our server was so nice and considerate. The lady who made sure we had all we need and our water cup is always filled. We really appreciate their service! Music was extremely loud.

Great vibes here for happy hour! $10 tacos and margaritas. The wait staff are super friendly and attentive. This spot has plenty of seating for happy hour, but is absolutely packed during dinner time. LOVE that they serve house fried warm tortilla chips with salsa as you peruse the menu. The fish tacos here were super crispy, but the pickled onions were a bit on the sour side, and the cream was a lot for the small amount of fish. In general, portions are definitely on the smaller side.

I stopped in today for brunch, and even though I didn't have a reservation, they were kind enough to give me a table. The waitstaff is warm and welcoming, and the food and drinks were absolutely amazing. I ordered the Sopa de Elote and the Torta de Brisket, and both items came out fast, fresh, and delicious. I see several reviews stating that this place is expensive, but in my opinion, I think everything is priced reasonably. The inside of the restaurant has a great vibe and is kept very clean. This is definitely a place I will visit again in the future, but next time, I will be sure to make a reservation.

Went here for brunch. The cuisine is Mexican cuisine from the Oaxacan region... this wasn't the cheapest brunch as for 2 people it def will cost you a bit BUT the food is tasty. All the enchiladas came with a side of rice and beans. The drinks are definitely strong and the service was attentive without being pushy. One thing I did notice was that for the enchiladas we had, the chicken was cubed instead of the usual shredded chicken. All in all I'd recommend.. there is a garden but I opted not to go there as I had my infant in the stroller.
