Review Cafe Kashkar - Brooklyn

Craving Calories Foodie
This place gives off cozy and old/historical vibes. Food wasn’t so much of a taste. But the best part is the food is HALAL and cooked by Muslims. The Pollo/Pulov had so much oil that we extracted in another plate. It is very expensive with a very small portion of food. The service is very good though. It would get 5 stars for all the down sides. Parking is not easy but if you are lucky, you’ll find parking in the streets. The kebabs are a small portion as well but tasted better.

Wow. I wasn’t expecting such good food at this hole in the wall restaurant. They have maybe six tables and their kitchen is smaller than mine but boy can they cook good food. It’s best to go with a larger party so you can order a lot of dishes and share. Be adventurous! Try Uyghur food here !

A very lovely Uygur family restaurant. It's very homemade. I deeply believed its food doesn't excite your taste buds as much as other similar restaurant because lacking of MSG.

This place feels intimate, and you get the feeling that the customers who sit at the tables are carefully assessing your presence as an outsider. The older people who are native to the Kashkar culture are very wise and traditional people. They drink from porcelain tea pots and speak comfortably at their tables with other members of their group. Their bathroom is kind of in need of some repair, but overall the place is welcoming and warm. The food is incredible tasting, well seasoned and well cooked. My only small complaint is that the food amount vs. price ratio is not very well balanced. You’d expect a larger portion for some of the food plates but that’s ok, because it’s not a buffet and more of a cultural gem to behold and savor. Feels very authentic, a bit humbled but very accommodating and friendly service.

Yummy Uyghur foods! First time trying the cuisine and thoroughly impressed. Came because of a school assignment but would try again on my own time. Hot steamy tea and soupy & crispy mantis (dumplings). The food does take a while to come out but the kitchen wasn’t run by a team of people so it’s understandable.

Halal Ughur food in Brooklyn! Count me in. The ambiance outside the restaurant isn't the best. However, inside is a cozy spot. I believe they make their own noodles - so that was unique. The food tasted fresh and newly made. If they'd increase the meat portions in their orders then the food would be balanced. BTW you should definitely try out the fried dumplings. Just remember that they automatically add a service fee when you dine in there. I will be back to try more options.

Loved the restaurant! We tried the fried noodles (bosu lagman), and chuchvara soup, both of which were amazing! We also got the steamed manty as an appetizer, which was really good and the meat was flavourful. And then to finish off we tried the lamb rib skewers, which although tasted and smelled great, was grilled with too much oil for the fatty cut of meat it was. All in all, a wonderful experience with polite and helpful waitstaff in a restaurant with a cozy interior and some traditional Uzbek art and textiles on the walls. We will definitely be returning!

I love this place! The food is always delicious. I have tried to look for other Uyghur food to try but they don't have the same food that I like and so I go back to this restaurant. I usually order the Salad Langsai, the lamb with handmade noodles, and the fried empanada style lamb appetizer. I order their potato appetizer and it was delicious. It's fresh sliced potatoes with the right amount of salt. I go there by myself and order all this food because I want leftovers. The servers working there are always nice. The restaurant is very beautiful and cozy and I finished my meal with a cup of their hot tea. It takes about an hour for me to get there by car and public transportation but well worth it. This is my comfort, treat myself to good food, place to go. I have been going there since 2018. The food prices are reasonable because of the quality. It takes me 10 - 15 minutes to walk to the beach to see the beautiful ocean. Food prices have gone up in the grocery store and I don't mind paying for "good quality" food.

This was my first time trying Uyghurs food, it was absolutely Delicious 10/10. The food was full of flavor, everything freshly made so take a little time, great service and cozy place. The painting and cultural decor on the wall gives the place a really nice vibe. Keep in mind, the portion is little small, and everything you have to pay for. Even water that’s the only down side. I would highly suggest this place to anyone. Loved it!! 💖💖👍👍

I went here a couple of weeks ago with two of my friends. Food was amazing and the service was super polite and sweet. If you want to feel a bit more cultured, come here and try it out :)

One of the best spots for Uyghur cuisine. Their dine in space inside is cozy, but limited - specially if you are going during dinner hours. Loved every single item we ordered. Food was finger-licking delicious and I would certainly go back to this place. We ordered the lagman, non-qourmasi, meat naan, and some noodle soup. Non-qourmasi came with naan topped with lamb and vegetables and it was one of the best things. Their meat is so tender and juicy, and just melts in your mouth. Food takes a little time, but it comes out hot and fresh so its fair enough. Our server was super polite and overall, the portions of the food are big! The prices are reasonable for the portions served.

Deliciou😋😋😋 First time I tried Tatar restaurant and I liked all the foods that I have ordered. I started with Mantı, then Çiğ Borek and last kebap. Service was very quick and did not wait to bring all foods at the same time. My orders come one by one, hot and fresh. It is small but cousy place.

This place is literally my favorite place to eat in Brooklyn. The food and service was amazing. The first time I asked what was popular and I am glad I did. It is all delicious. I have been there 4 or 5 times. Same great food Everytime. I'll be going back next time I'm in the City.

Best Uyghur food I've had in NY so far!!! So fresh and delicious. We ordered fried manti, lagman noodles, and polo. Warm and authentic atmosphere. We came over an hour away and it was totally worth it.

This cafe serves authentic Uygur Lagman, a delicious dish made with fresh, hand-pulled noodles and savory halal meat soup. The place is tiny and can get crowded quickly. However, the servers do their best to accommodate everyone. To compliment the dish, order a pot of green tea (they only use loose leaf tea) at the beginning of meal, so that by the time you are done with the soup, the tea will be ready for consumption (about 15-20 minutes of steeping). Bon appetite.

At my third and most recent visit to Kashkar, the uniqueness and incredible flavor of the Turkic & Uighyer cuisine has blown me away again. The immense and diverse flavors that quite literally explode in your mouth with each bite is a fun and enjoyable experience. The hosts were welcoming, for our Muslim folks the food is halal and there is also a small prayer space in the basement that they kindly allowed us to use, and the service was fast on a busy Saturday! Pictured here you'll see: 1. Manty - dumplings that are definitely the BEST dish on the menu, steamed with lamb to perfection 2. Fried dumplings - incredibly yummy and filling 3. Logman noodles - fried pasta with lamb (only fried noodles on menu) that were really flavorful 4. Samsa - a baked good filled with lamb and onion.

This place serves Halal food only. Everything is incredibly delicious 😋 They make delicious lagman, plov, manty, samsa, shashlyk. they don't sell alcohol. It's a small restaurant, but very cozy. Has outside seating area. They are usually crowded whenever I come. Staff is friendly. I come here whenever I'm in the area. Recommend this place if you are looking for halal uzbek/uygur cuisine.

Went with a couple of friends from out of town and was pleasantly surprised by this discreet little restaurant! Awesome food, great portions for the price, very friendly staff, outside seating, short walking distance to the beach, what's not to love about this place! *Ideal for intimate setting 2+1, 3 maybe 4 to a group comfortable even though they have a two 6 seater tables.

Fabulous food. Get the eggplant salad! Definitely worth the trip.

Хуже стали готовить. Вчера были вечером лагман пойдет а чебуреки ужасные. Фарш в чебуреках жареный и не сочные.

I ate at the restaurant yesterday and had a samosa packed to go. Reheated at home, started to eat and found a long thick black hair inside. Owners, it is disgusting and absolutely not acceptable. Wherever the dishes are cooked is definitely not a sanitary place. Needless to say I will never ever eat there again. Quality of the food is not good either - the pilaf was way too greasy and poorly flavored, I just had an overall bad experience with Kashkar.

Excellent service and food. Can’t wat to go back and try more from the menu. My wife is vegetarian & there were solid options for her as well. No hesitations in recommending them or going back (hopefully next time we’re in NY)

Wonderful strange hybrid menu That's unlike anything ever seen and so extensive and varied that it will make your head Hurt in a good way & your mouth & tummy will be rightfully pleased

Had the food last week. Very good. But I caught food poisoning. It's pretty laughable that I can't try Asian food since I'm Asian as well

The salads are outstanding. I can come here just for the salads. Lagman in any form at this restaurant is an addiction. They have increased the menu items so much in the last few years that choosing amongst the many excellent choices is difficult.

Nice little place, great food and service, I will be back :).

My wife and I were looking for halal food while in the neighborhood and wanted to change it up by trying something different from the typical Pakistani and Middle Eastern food we normally get when eating out. Kashkar became an instant favorite for us with its amazing service and freshness of each dish. I don't think I've ever eaten juicier lamb or chicken in my life. The food is outstanding and I only wish we lived closer to enjoy their deliciousness more often.

Our first experience with Uyghur Cuisine at KashKar was a good one. Service was good and food was served promptly. We love the decor. Actually learned alot about their enthic culture. Didn't know that they are very much connected to the Chinese. For starter we ordered the Manty dumplings. It was good. Love that the skin is not tough. My husband ordered the samsa. It was ok for me. The filling was dry but my husband like it. For our lunch I ordered the lagman soup. It was really good. Big portion so I shared the noodles to husband. The soup broth was so flavorful. My husband ordered the mixed combination grilled kebabs. Chicken lamb beef were all tender and juicy. Overall I enjoyed my first experience at KashKar. Will definitely return to try their other dishes.

Authentic Uigyur/Xinjiang cuisine and very friendly service.

This is my second and the last time. Service is just awful. It is like going back in time, circa 1980 USSR. Food was better the first time, not the service, hence wanted to give it another shot after a day at the beach. Bad idea.
