Fabulous food, attentive service, knowledgeable advice on wine. We loved the gravlax, the gnocchi in lobster sauce, the papardelle with lamb ragu, and the skirt steak with romesco and orange. You leave feeling very well taken care of.

The creative eclectic dishes prepared like a work of art will not disappoint. Chef Chad Shaner is hitting another home run. We loved the food, decor, open kitchen, wood fired dishes. We'll definitely be back....a lot!

Clean delicate food in a warm setting. Good for brunch with a smaller group. Pros: -Food had definitely been prepared with thought. Everything on the menu has been meticulously placed together -Service. Attentive waitresses (although it wasn't too busy when we went) Cons: -the servings are a bit small, especially for the price. But it's quality over quantity here

The food is good - really really good. That said, you can find good food in a _lot_ of places these days - what is harder to find is excellent service (•), and, most importantly, great wine selection that holds up perfectly to the food without breaking the bank. Yeah, they have an extraordinary collection of beaujolais and chenin blanc (really. *huge* list). but check out the Georgian wines - obscure as heck, and crazy good. And yeah, the service is great, with friendly/knowledgable staff (Alex, one of the owners, is also the "wine guy", and usually around). So yeah, definitely worth going to... (•) really other restos - at the prices you charge, is it that much to expect good service?)

Modern interior with open kitchen concept. The menu is very unusual and interesting. We ordered 3 dishes and they complimented us with 2 more! Everything tasted good

Good with the potential to be great. We had brunch. The best thing we had was the complementary corn bread - truly outstanding. Unfortunately our mains, though beautiful, were underwhelming. home made ricotta was promising but the extras were so stingily applied that after the first 2 bites - you were out of honey and and almonds and were left with a bowl of unadorned cheese. The venison enchiladas were fine, but gameness and toughness of the meat did not add anything to the dish and 3 bites in you were wishing it was ground beef. It was also expensive. I feel there is good potential here, and the atmosphere is pleasant. I will give it another chance.

Creative high quality dishes in a well designed place in Gowanus. It’s a pit pricy and the Linguini was too spicy but the carrots dish is fantastic, there were good vegetarian options and great cocktails. A good example of why Gowanus is great!

The burger is delicious. And the service is crazy good; they took great care of me and my one-year-old and give us 4- people table for ther 2 of us, so we could sit one next to another. Small selection of beers but very good choice. The cocktail bar looks pretty well filled. We will come back

Came with a few friends for dinner service. Staff and food were amazing! Our favorites we're the tuna tartar, duck and pork belly. Everything was cooked and prepared really well. The flavor of the pork belly was amazing and melted in your mouth.

Went for brunch on a Saturday at 1pm. The place was remarkably not crowded and the decor was charming. There is a bar in the back in front of the chefs where you can see them prepare the food, so make sure to ask to sit there if that's your thing. The drinks were superb, the bloody caesar I got was absolutely delicious. One of the best I've had. I ordered jasmine fried black rice with pork jowl and quail eggs. It was insane. A very small portion but delicious. For dessert we got the ricotta which had figs and almonds in it. Dressed with balsamic and honey. I look forward to going back to try more of the menu.

A friend and I went here late one night and ordered a drink and a few appetizers. I had heard how fantastic this place was and would have to agree with that assessment. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super helpful and gave great, detailed feedback about the menu. She was also very patient while we tried to make up our minds about what we wanted to order and if me.ory serves, she even gave the kitchen a heads-up that our order was coming because they were getting ready to close. The drinks were good and the food was great. The space is beautiful and calm, and the clientele was surprisingly young, considering the prices and upscale nature of the place. (I think some of them were friends of the employees.) I live in an area where I am spoiled with great restaurants. Having said that, Freek's Mill is a cut above. The one drawback is that we were both vegetarians and there were not a lot of choices for vegetarians. I am not sure if they change the menu every day but, if not, maybe they could add a couple more veggie options.

Delicious meal, excellent cocktails and friendly server. Dinner was a series of small to medium plates to share between party of four, and eventually we tried most of the menu. Not cheap, but prices were typical for this type of food and acceptable. Hamachi was worth the trip by itself and the BBQ kohlrabi sounded weird and tasted terrific. Very creative menu. I doubt I have EVER seen kohlrabi on a restaurant menu before in my life. (No slander of their desserts, but after dinner we walked a block to Ample Hills for ice cream. Well worth it!)
