OxCart is my home. It's small, cozy, has a great vibe and even better food. I love the bartender, Carlos who never leaves me waiting for anything. The kitchen is on point and very consistent. One of the owners and head chef, Dave, is forever coming up with delectable specials and updating the menu to reflect the community's likes. He is tge kind of man you want running your local gastropub. They have really nice rotating draft beers and keep classic bottles in stock. The bar and wine list is pretty darn decent too!
In 2012 I asked Dave and the OxCart crew to cater my wedding in my home. It was hands down the best catered food I had ever had, everyone was supremely attentive and professional, and my guests agreed! Each time I come home from NH to visit, I make it a point to visit my parents, my grandma, and OxCart :)
LOVE!
Great 👍🏻 place. The best choice of Beer 🍻And food was delicious . respectful staff .. cozy place
I had to revise my original review since I have frequented this place several times since my first visit. This is a really great tavern. I have never gotten a bad meal from this place. Everything I have ordered has comes out fresh and with a beautiful presentation. The service is fast and everyone that has ever waited on me was friendly. The cocktails are amazing as well. Highly recommend!
Gorgeous little gastropub. We came on a hot summer’s evening, when all the long windows were wide open, giving the place an outdoor feel with a nice breeze. The non-alcoholic beverages were delicious (I had homemade ginger lemonade) and there was a really good selection of beers, wine and cocktails at decent prices. The food was all great, but the special we had – scallops with mushrooms and lemon risotto – was particularly good (one of the nicest meals I’ve had in a long time). Very friendly staff as well.
Great small restaurant vibe the food is excellent and the staff are very engaging. The Thai curry coconut sauce on the mussels needs to be put in a bottle and drizzled on everything. Amazing portions and speedy service. There is limited seating so check ahead and see if they are at there busy hours.
This was our second Sunday there last Sunday was great but this Sunday was exceptional. The food drinks and service was on point, plus they have a live band that came to play. This is a great neighborhood restaurant that you should visit.
This is a delightful spot. The cocktails are a delight and the food is fantastic. Service is also excellent! You should really give this place a shot.
Absolutely loved the drinks! Staff is helpful and I like that you can ask anyone for assistance, not just your particular server. For cocktails I highly recommend the Rose Garden and Sunset on the Slope (pictured). Also got the Alamo burger which was very tasty! Just wish it had a little more BBQ sauce but it wasn't a big deal. Went on an early Saturday evening and whoever was in charge of the playlist was on point!
Excellent food and service.
Very cozy outside dining.
Tables are safely spaced and separated.
Not far from prospect park.
A hidden jewel of the neighborhood.
THE OX ROCKS.
Set on a corner of a scruffy commercial strip and a residential street of gentrifying Victorians and century-old shade trees, the Ox Cart does the chalkboard-menu and dinged-furniture thing like many other neighborhood eateries in Brooklyn. But the Ox earns its stars with its food and drink and the professionalism in place since ownership changed in 2017. The staff is mellow and attentive, the specials hearty and flavorful, and the lamb lasagna on the everyday menu worth a three-block walk any snowy night. Prices are moderate, and the televisions tuned to sports are two too many in a tight serving space. Cocktails a strong point.
Quaint and welcoming. The food was delish. The drinks were off the charts. Recommend anyone to visit, all ages
Great New York neighborhood place. The ONLY place to go before a show at Kings. Sit at the bar and get a lesson on mixology.
