Posted on May 10, 2015 by eyechow Sorry if you’re seeing this twice – the scheduler on my WordPress has been acting up so some posts have been sent out / put up early by mistake. So here’s today’s post! Wow, it’s been awhile since the last Sunday Brunch post. Brunch is my favorite meal, but sadly, I now work weekends so no more Sunday brunch for me :( Kiyo and I have tried to go a few times here in Honolulu, between my work and teaching, but by the time we get there (around 1 or 2) all the most popular items are sold out. Plus, I have to rush back to work or teaching afterwards. No fun. Hopefully soon I will have one weekend day off per week (fingers crossed)! Last year around this time – or was it Autumn? They are so similar and both are the best times in New York, when it’s sunny and cool but not too cold – my friend Geneve was visiting NYC so we met up for a day in Brooklyn. I drove from Queens – the only acceptable way to get there. The subway route between the two boroughs is a nightmare! We somehow ended up at a Polish “diner” called Teresa’s, but it was more like a café than a diner. We got a nice table outside and shared a few items: halubky, which I love (my grandmother makes the Russian version all the time). It is meat and sometimes rice, vegetables and even bacon, stuffed inside a cabbage leaf, baked in tomato soup. Delicious. We also had dumplings (pierogi) and some sort of sausage… there was a good amount of meat, which is typical of a Polish meal. On the side, beets, of course… And a cucumber salad (salad, according to many Eastern Europeans and all Russians, involves mayo). Maybe not really a brunch-style meal, but tasty nonetheless. I thought it was simple but solid Polish fare. Afterwards, we drove to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Since we were already playing tourists, we took some photos with this statue in the parking lot.

Best Blintzs Ever. I had the Polish platter and a half order of blueberry blintzs (1 blintz). The platter was very good and authentic Polish. I particularly liked the pierogies. However, what really bowled me over was the blintz. I thought I was in heaven. It was crispy but not greasy, full of ricotta and blueberries. Clearly these are the best blintzs I have had anywhere in the USA. I am making this my go-to place for brunch in the future.

Great Neighborhood Regular. If I lived here permanently, this might be my default dining spot. The oak chair railing lends earthy comfort, every crack and crevice was clean and tidy, and the service was delivered with a level of sincerity that made me feel like I'd been coming here for years.

We had veal liver & onions and a chicken cutlet pounded out to the size of a frisbee. Sides of crisp green beans and creamy potatoes were perfect. The Okocim beer will definitely find it's way into my frig when I get home.

I adore the menu. Cabbage soup, pea soup, two kinds of borscht, I'm in love, liver & onions, shredded apple pancakes, stuffed cabbage, stroganoff, homemade apple cake, meatloaf, kraut filled pierogis, cheese blintzes with plum butter. And then there's the prices! just a couple bucks and a quarter buys soups and desserts.

This place is a gem.

Great Polish Classics. The Potato and the cheese pierogis are the best. The potato pancakes are good too, if a bit greasy. The kielbasa and sauerkraut was amazing as well. Delicious comfort food.

Trendy and romantic spot!!! The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly... I definitely liked the wine samples they gave us to try before ordering the wine of our taste. I definitely recommend this place for a night out with friends or date night.

Title: An Exquisite Italian Delight with Exceptional Service Review: My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Filece Restaurant. The staff was super attentive, going out of their way to prepare a special pasta dish for her. They constantly checked in on us, making our meal even more enjoyable. The restaurant's cozy atmosphere, simple decor, and relaxing music were perfect. The highlights were the food. The vegetable soup was deliciously light and flavorful, and the desserts, particularly the gelato and sorbet, were the best we've ever tasted. They even thoughtfully packed our leftovers, which was great. The prices were quite reasonable for the exceptional quality. Although we didn't try the bar, it looked inviting and popular among other guests. In short, Filece Restaurant in Brooklyn Heights is a fantastic spot for Italian cuisine, offering great food and service. We're planning to return soon.

Felice is an utter gem of a restaurant. The Brooklyn Heights location is particularly lovely. Everything here was delightfully delicious, but the pastas were the definite standouts for me. The wine was also excellent.

We had a nice dinner at Felice. Service felt a bit jumbled as we had four different servers throughout the night which affected the overall ambiance. We were seated outside as we didn't have a reservation, so recommend booking in advance. Food was good overall, the truffle pizza (starter) was especially delicious. The carbonara was a bit grainy but tasted fine and the tiramisu was very delicious.

Great food and aesthetics. Service is s little slow at the bar. The pasta was so tender and thin. The chicken Milanese is great too!

We had an excellent meal at the Felice Montague. We had drinks, starters, entrees a single dessert and good wine. The Italian theme is strong and authentic starting with the good virgin olive oil to go along with the Italian bread and ending with the many different pasta dishes we tried. The mini pizza we had as a starter was simple but a highlight of taste and took us back to Italy where we have been and dined many times. The wine list offered a reasonably priced Roero Arneis which I think is rare to find outside Piemonte. It was delicious. The service was good but a little confused with three different waiters at the same time. But three were friendly and nice and helped make it a great experience.

4.3 ⭐️ what a gem of a spot. I brought my out of town friend here and everyone thanked me for a great restaurant choice. What we ate: fried artichokes & calamari: 5stars, so light and fresh but also crisp, and flavorful. Best thing we ordered bruschetta: not your typical bruschetta, this is with large pieces of tomato and soft bread, but there tomato’s are very fresh and tasty special melon salad: our server really sold this one and TBH is was a bit basic for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ good clean flavors, maybe just not great for sharing. Pasta: we each got a main pasta and everyone really enjoyed their own. Well prepared and balanced flavors, I think any is probably a safe bet! Chocolate Hazelnut torte: very nice, reminiscent of a Ferraro roche. Rich but not too sweet, and good hazelnut flavor. I would get this again. Small ish portion Tiramisu: very nice, we’ll done, would get again, but I personally preferred the hazelnut torte Vibes are classic and put together without feeling stuffy. Service was very friendly without feeling overbearing. We stayed for 2hr and didn’t feel rushed at all. It’s just a really solid spot that is also not hard to get a reservation at. I’ll definitely be back!

I came out here on a recommendation of a friend. I came in mid-afternoon and didn’t have any wait to get in. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and it was absolutely amazing! I ordered a glass of the Vermentino wine and it was really good. I ate alone, so finding a table was not difficult. I enjoyed the entire experience and would definitely go back if I’m back in the area.

The food here is good although I think slightly overpriced. For example the cheapest cocktail is $17 and if memory serves the cheapest pasta option is around $25. I recommend the burrata and prosciutto starter and the salmon-rigatoni pasta dish (rich and spicy creamy tomato sauce and chunks of salmon). I can’t recommend the cacio e pepe because it was kind of lacking in flavor despite being topped with parmesan. I do recommend the charcuterie plate it comes with bresaola and prosciutto, 2 cheeses and pickled artichoke and some olives. The arancini were okay, you get 5 small ones and some tartar dipping sauce. I read some other reviews that mentioned they had 3-4 different servers through the meal and we also had essentially the same experience, which was strange because we were there when it wasn’t busy. I don’t understand the rationale behind one person taking your order and another person bringing the food and then having a third person give you the dessert and coffee menu. If its between shifts then whatever fine, but it seems this is happening a lot with other reviewers as well from reading here in google. Lastly we had the lemon tart dessert and it was good, but it was definitely $15.
