Solid wine list and knowledgeable, amiable service. Entrees (especially the lamb rigatoni) were excellent but both the vegetable dishes (chicory salad and charred cabbage) had a gaminess that was really off-putting. I’d come back to try the pork chop (which we did not this time) but I probably wouldn’t come all the way from Manhattan for it.

Charming, unpretentious, warm and friendly. The menu was heightened comfort food: delicious, well-proportioned and good to the last drop, as were the cocktails: solid and still sparkling. The staff were the kind of people you want around you all the time. What a jewel of a discovery.

Great spot for brunch. The service is fantastic and the ambiance was perfect. The food, especially the sourdough pancakes and the quiche, was excellent! Will definitely be returning.

I like the USDA certified organic chicken, pasta, salad and dark chocolate cake. Every dish has a refined satisfying taste.

Sourdough pancakes are really unique and worth the experience! I would ask for the maple and butter on the side just so you can taste the pancake on it’s own.
We also got the roast beef sandwich but it wasn’t particularly standout. The sandwich was dry and the roast beef felt like deli meat but the bread was very delicious.

Tried their apple pancake and it was an absolute delight! The pancake was fluffy and packed with delicious apple flavor. The combination of sweet and tangy notes was perfect. The cozy and rustic ambiance added to the overall charm of the experience. The service was attentive, making the visit even more enjoyable. If you're a fan of pancakes and looking for a great brunch spot in New York, don't miss out on this gem!

The food was delicious, my gf and I got to try three different plates and were very happy with them. They were the perfect size for us to share! I would especially recommend the lamb ragu! The pasta was al dente and the ragu was super tender and delicious!

I had the pleasure of hosting my Christmas dinner at Vinegar Hill and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. I highly recommend making a reservation at Vinegar Hill! Everything was perfect. The interior and decoration of the restaurant are cozy and charming.
The service was top-notch, the staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was undoubtedly the highlight of the night.
Overall, I can confidently say that Vinegar Hill is one of my favorite restaurants in New York City. The attention to detail in the food, service, and atmosphere made for a memorable dining experience. If you're looking for a cozy and intimate setting with excellent food and service, Vinegar Hill is the perfect spot. I highly recommend it!

The ambience was lovely and the background music was not too loud. The decor was antique chic.
The menu was limited in its offering. For our dining options- they were octopus, cheese plate, a salad..and 1 more item.
We went for the main entrees- 2 pasta dishes - lamb ragu and a mushroom walnut pesto pasta, the steelhead trout and the pork chop. The dishes are pleasant and the seasoning was excellent. The texture for both pasta was al dente. They were easy to share - but small in size (but we were told.of this , beforehand). The polenta with the pork chop - was unequivocally our favorite..and the trout had some bones and was a bit fishy.
We ended with the panna cotta which had sage oil and ?cooked cherries. Texture was good but the bitter sage oil was off-putting and subsequently, altered the dessert.
The restaurant experience was wonderful in its setting and comfort level. The food was comfortable but not amazing.
We are glad to have gone there since we wondered about its popularity for awhile. Perhaps it is our own lack of palate diversity that disallowed a better review.
