Tacos El Torito Versatile

Awarding them 5 stars because the food from here is ALWAYS flavorful and delicious. Eat here often and have tried about 1/3 of the menu thus far. Everything is very good and as near to authentic Mexican food as it gets in our area. Service wise they can be inconsistent (sometimes poor communication over the phone or long waits in the dining room for your order) but all of that is forgotten as soon as you get your food because it puts a smile on your face. Versatiles is hands down the best Mexican food in the Melrose neighborhood (between E.149 and E. 163rd Streets) of the Bronx.

These tacos were incredible. I had crispy tripe, lengua, and carnitas. I ordered the carnitas on the crunchy American style taco. It was so so crunchy!!! I loved the texture. It’s unlike anything I’ve experienced in Texas. The tripe was cooked perfectly to melt in your mouth. The orange sauce was delicious, spicy, and flavorful. I can’t wait to come back and try more items on the menu. My partner had the chicken tacos which were incredibly flavorful. My only complaint is they were a tiny bit dry, but the flavor was so good it didn’t matter. If you go, definitely try at least one crunchy American style taco. 5 tacos and a glass coke were $22. Great lunch for you and a friend.

Food is great here , price is great service is for the most part good. Now that they open the sitting area I was super excited but unfortunately they dont turn on the AC therefore is super hot 🥵 , also it’s super disorganized, boxes all over the place ,dirty tables , disorganized tables , definitely a place you want to order food to Go but no to stay :( I
