Authentic Caribbean food. If you miss the island or just want to have a taste, this is the place. Food is perfect all the time, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Don't worry about the price because actually you are paying for the quality of what you are eating 💯

As a Puerto Rican who came from the island this place was right on the spot, just like home. The skirt steak, the mofongo best one I’ve had in New England so far, everything very delicious and the staff very friendly and nice. If I ever crave Puerto Rican food this is gonna be my place.
Comida boricua muy delicioso como la de la isla lo recomiendo.

I’ve been here before, so to celebrate my Mother’s Birthday I stopped by 5/15/22 to have some good eating. I’ll pay whatever, as long as the food and service is great. The last time we had a rocky experience when we first arrived, that ended up great with great food I decided to give it a chance. This time it started the same🤦🏻♀️ we sat down and waited a while, the lady asked us after a while what we wanted to drink and eat, but forgot to give us the menu. After looking at the menus which kinda sucked in choices we proceeded to order. We waiting a long time for our food even through there where not many customers, and I told my family that it was ok because from experience the food was great. A while later we received our food and I couldn’t be any more embarrassed, the servings where a miserable 9 tiny pieces, that where salty and mushy, of each meat with barely any sauce, peppers and onions along side of mofongo. It was supposed to be 3 kind of meat. The octopus salad was so over cooked we didn’t even need to chew it. Let’s just say near $170 later we left hungry, I had to apologize to my Mother and promise her to take her out next time to Puerto Vallarta, can never go wrong with some tacos and margaritas🌮🍹. And also by the time I got home I had severe stomach aches and I was vomiting. I will not be back here.

Wow where can i start? What a disappointment! Im a New Yorkrican that has spent much of my youth in Puerto Rico. I have just recently moved to Connecticut and have been craving for some time now a great Mofongo with Carne Frita. I thought i hit the jackpot when i searched up La Bodega del Mofongo. What a disappointment. The Mofongo was very soft mushy and greasy. No type of condiment for the Mofongo such as gravy or a broth. The carne frita omg. It was very hard and greasy. The best thing was the tiny cup of mayo ketchup for the carne frita. My wife and I had a virgin Pina Colada that tasted like straight water. The only reason i ate my meal was because i was on a 24 hour fast. The long wait time should have been a red flag to leave. My wife could not eat her meal at all because of how greasy it was and we were still charged the full place. Very upsetting but i do not recommend this restaurant.

As someome that has worked in the restaurant business for many years I honestly have to say this was the most horrible experience/service ever! I had called in before entering the restaurant not once was it mentioned only middle tables would be allowed to sit at indoors, once I entered my family & I were told only middle tables are allowed to be seated I told the waiter we had drove very far to this location and not once was it mentioned over the phone. The server quickly got bothered by the comment & didn't even bother to sit us down to an available table we had to guess instead, once seated we were not greated until 6 minutes later, it took 6minutes to be greated 14 minutes to get our drinks, 21 minutes for a salad which by the way adding oil and vinegar with garlic and no seasoning is NOT considered a salad dressing, 38 minutes later we only received one plate, and then 11 minutes later we had received the other four plates. On top of all this the onions were not cooked all the way, the portions were so little while the plates were much bigger so the food was sliding around and on top of that the food was served on disposal plates. Once we received the food my family and I had to rush to leave because the space was crowded and it was going against the 6 feet guidelines which were not being enforced. Finally, if the waiters do not know what's on the menu in regards to the food items and prices and have to be constantly waisting time going to the kitchen distracting the cooks which causes them to stop cooking to think then they shouldn't be waiter's. Never will I ever return or recommend this restaurant to anyone!
