I really like this place. There is another breakfast place in town that claims to have the best breakfast. But in my book, Columbine Cafe deserves that banner. Biscuits and Gravey were rib-sticking fantastic and the CBH Benedict was wonderful. We ate there twice during our stay.
A gold nugget smack in the middle of Breck. Who's ever had seen salmon and eggs(with hash browns and toast) on a menu in Denver? Just wonderful, and the overall menu is so broad I had to ask if the owner was greek. OK, Columbine Cafe in Breckenridge. I'd suggest all the folks opening restaurants here in Denver go up there and see what a real restaurant is.
Food was really good and service was attentive. The corn beef hash and French toast were both tasty and had a lot of flavor. The show stopper though were the lattes. We got the “chocolate kisses” and “cinnamon roll” lattes. Super sweet and tasted like Christmas! 🤣
The portions were perfectly oversized and you will not leave disappointed or with an empty stomach. The food was extremely good for all of us. The star of the table was the corn beef hash, it was made with real shredded corned beef (not canned or store bought). The drinks were all very good and more than anything it was extremely reasonably priced. We will for sure visit them again if we are ever in Breckenridge. Finally the service was homey and friendly.
The restaurant is a bit worn down and old-school, with cracked booth cushions and plastic cups. But, it has a great gem — the corned beef hash! It is delicious, with at least half of it being made up of their corned beef. The eggs that come with it are buttery and scrambled well — stiff but not dry. Also, the portions of everything are huge!
If you come in hoping for a standard diner breakfast with excellent hash, you will be very pleased! I’m giving them a 5-star for this meal alone (and likely anything with the corned beef). I can’t speak to the rest of the menu, but the corned beef hash is worth a visit!
The biggest improvement spot is the biscuits — they are very bready and not worth eating.
Expected more after reading the reviews. The food was okay. The French toast tasted like soft bread no hints of cinnamon, nutmeg or a good batter being used to make it. The eggs Benedict looked beautiful but were not super flavorful. The grits come (as in most breakfast spots) without seasoning so add salt and butter if you order them. The other items were good but I would have been surprised if they weren't: the bacon, sausage link and a fried egg for example.. This location has one thing, good pricing in a tourist ski town.
We visited January 2022 . Food was delicious!! Service Was great and quick. The wait to get seated was terrible! But we did not call ahead or had a reservation and we arrived at the peak of breakfast rush , we did not find a lot of places open for breakfast at that time , when we return I will definitely call and make a reservation.
Great breakfast, affordable, large portions, good flavor, cozy cafe. We enjoyed the corned beef hash eggs Benedict - sub biscuit and add a side of green pork chili. We also ordered a pancake- it was massive.
Solid, filling breakfast at a convenient little spot in Brek! The service was fast & friendly and the food portions were A-1! I ordered the Brek Scramble and my husband had the Philly Cheesesteak Omelette with egg whites. Very delicious food with cheap/reasonable prices.
Awesome cafe. Great food and friendly service. Ordered their Corn Hash specialty dish. Breakfast served all day. Good menu selection too.
