Lunetta Italian

Went on a weekday night at 6. A few tables, but not even half full and was seated right away. I immediately took note of the yellow wet wrinkled paper used for the menus. Guess card stock is out. My SO and I both ordered iced tea. We were definitely given old tea, our server was apologetic and replaced the drinks, no foul. We ordered the Baked Rigatoni and the caprese. The caprese hit everything poorly. The heirlooms LOOKED fantastic, but tasted really bland. The balsamic vinegar was barely noticeable on the plate, but for some reason it was notably replaced with the additional element of more basil in the form of pesto. To the Rigatoni... Some flavor elements we're there, I caught some hints of cinnamon and fennel in the sauce. But for some strange reason, there were large chunks of celery and carrots. Now, I understand a mirepoix, but I'm pretty sure they should be at least diced. I don't need a half cooked carrot to bite through with cheese. Speaking of cheese, the cheese wasn't well distributed, but I enjoyed those bites that did. The sausage was nice too. I also enjoyed the focaccia, but it should be served with some nice dipping olive oil with cheese or pepper.

Nice, cozy, comfortable ambiance. Located in the shopping center just north of Iris and 28. Easy access, easy parking, veggies options. My husband enjoyed his steak meal and I enjoyed my veggie soup and salad. The focaccia was great too, goat cheese with Italian peppers. They also serve delicious, warm, oven fresh, crusty bread and each table has olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We are happy we found it! We will put it in rotation and go back on a fairly regular basis. Give it a try!

We came at 8:30 and it was empty. There were more servers than customers, and the first drink took a while. The Chicken Marsala was a *undercooked* chicken breast on diced asparagus, mushrooms, and some other veg. The mushrooms were nicely seasoned and cooked till umami, the rest was quickly blanched and chewy. We may come back and try it again, but with so many other excellent Italian American places in Boulder I struggle to see what niche they are trying to fill.

I ate at Lunetta on July 19, 2018, soon after they opened. Even so, the restaurant was packed at night. We had a reservation, and our table was ready on time. The restaurant is beautiful. Service was good, but the food preparation time was very slow. We waited 30-45 minutes for our meals to come. I'm sure this will improve in the future. The food was delicious. It was prepared well and seemed to be made with good ingredients. Some of the dishes come in more generous portions than others. We ordered 2 x ravioli, 2 x salmon, and 2 x chicken parmesan. The sizes of each dish were consistent, but the ravioli dish was small, the salmon was medium, and the chicken parmesan was generous. Our waitress told me that the ravioli dish was smaller, but it was fine for me, because I wasn't very hungry. My son also ordered the ravioli and was still hungry after the meal. Lunetta's menu is available on their website. Prices are a bit high, but it's good food. The food quality was good, and I'm confident that Lunetta will speed up the preparation time as they work out the kinks. I look forward to coming back.

Food was over priced and was extremely sub par for what we payed for. I would much rather go spend my money at a different Italian restaurant such as Pasta Jay’s. Not to mention despite me pulling out my wallet and card the waitress put the bill in front of my spouse. I proceeded to grab it then put my card with it. She then came back with my card and once again proceeded to put it in front of my spouse. The only pro of this restaurant was the relaxing atmosphere but that is where the positivity ends. I had high hopes for this restaurant and believe with more work to its menu, sauce and with more experienced chefs it could be an amazing restaurant.

This is Italian food by the owners of Murphy's Grill. (I like Murphy's a lot because it has a relaxed neighborhood vibe, is dependably OK and without pretension. So I would rate the original Murphy's 4 Stars.) With Lunetta Italian, a new cuisine has been discovered which I would call Irish-Italian. The Italian bit is, unfortunately, pretentious. There is little to nothing Italian about the cooking apart from the Italian themed menu and an abundance of disappointing pasta dishes. But if you are a Murphy's regular and if you are in the mood for something slightly beyond Murphy's normal fare, then Lunetta might just be the ticket.
