Ezell's Famous Chicken

Like all Ezell's, the atmosphere is pleasant. The kernel corn is fantastic and the drum sticks are amazing. But the tenders were dry. But you can't win them all. Good group of workers all hustling to get the food ready for the standard group of at least 8 to 9 people waiting. Overall, great choice for a family dinner, if not a bit expensive.

I ordered the two piece special which included a side and roll. The roll was great. The man and cheese were pretty good. The pic on the wall showed a leg and thigh. I got a thigh and wing. My brother ordered the same meal and got a thigh and breast. We were both let down as we were expecting a leg and thigh. The crust was awesome. The meat was low on flavor. I guess the skin soaked up all the good taste or the flavor couldn't get past the crust. I'd still give them another try but it wasn't as good as I remembered it before the ownership split up.

Fried chicken=amazing, potatoes and gravy= also very good. But honestly don't get the fries even if your kids ask for them. That's all I have found here so far that they could honestly remove from the menu and I wouldn't even be a little mad. Maybe I'm persnickety when it comes to potatoes. No shade- just being honest.

Every time I order ahead at this particular Ezells the following things happen: 1) they don't make my food until I show up, making me wait for a while. 2) they get my order wrong concerning how much spicy vs. Original chicken I want. The food is what you expect from Ezells, pretty good chicken and rolls that are awesome. But the ordering system is awful. The people are fairly friendly and doing their best I think but the process to get food is pretty terrible.

Normally, Ezell's Chicken has great tasting food including their chicken tenders and rolls. I've been there on occasion for years. Unfortunately, the last time I visited we had a bad experience and 3 members of my family including myself got food poisoning and vomited later. This occurred on April 2nd. My two kids and I were sick, only my wife was spared. She was the only one who didn't eat the food we picked up from Ezells. It was also the only meal that I had eaten that day. Therefore, I am fairly certain it was the chicken tenders from Ezells that was the cause. I read other reviews and saw recommendations to contact them via email, so I reached out a month ago and raised my concerns about potential food poisoning at that location, but I never got a response. I like the food and I want to believe it was a one off issue, but it is hard to say for sure.
