This place holds a special place in my heart as one of the last true Southie bars. It was my version of Cheers. However, with the passing of Tony, a lot of things have changed. I ordered a shot and was stunned when one shot was a whopping $14. I miss the days of Butter behind the bar and cheap drinks. I’ll cherish the memories but it’s just not the same anymore.

A pretty authentic townie experience! I used to stop by here periodically on my walk home from the T and I once saw two 60+ year old Irish men at the bar call each other out, walk outside, fistfight in the middle of the street, then they both came back in and resumed drinking. This is a true story!

Don’t let the neighborhood fool you into believing this is a rough joint. The 7-11 next door was pretty wild so I had some reservations about what might be going on inside The Connection. But it was excessively clean and under control and even had a few decent beers on tap! Highly recommended.

This place gets an A+ for cleanliness, the windows really add to the welcoming atmosphere. I have NEVER had nor seen any type of "trouble", the clientele ranges from 22 yr old girls, who come for the music & to dance. Then you have your blue collar construction workers, your suit and tie businessmen, I could go on about this place, the prices r unbelievable! It's a shame that some people won't even give it a try because of the location, which is ironic because it's right across from the Andrew Train, so it's probably safer than the places on Broadway, where you have to park on dark, secluded sidestreets.

Went here on St Patrick's day for the first time. Had a $10 cover and it was well worth it. Full of the Old South Boston crowd , which is a dying breed these days. Drinks were cheap and not watered down , no food but a great atmosphere.

Just a really good bar to get cheap drinks. The person who gave this place a 2-star review because "there was a guy furiously playing Keno" also complains that water is too wet. If you've ever seen this place from the outside, and expect to go in and NOT see a grizzled MBTA employee still in uniform on his 13th Evan Williams next to a snow bank of crumpled keno tickets, then you have no grip on reality.
