Probably the best spot and Black owned business in Boston. I went there on Thursday during an open mic. The host, Niña la Negra is simply amazing. She started by asking everyone in the room to introduce themselves so after that, the ambiance became more convivial. It was a complete melting pot, people with roots from every parts of the world. We were laughing all together and we all, before the open mic, had a conversation. Niña la Negra was basically hosting and we were giving our answers and exchanging our points. (Update: there’s no more open mics with her over there).
But it's not only about the ambiance. It's also about the responsible mentality that the bakery has. They care about environment and nature. The food is organic (as much as they can propose), veggies and fruits come from local farms. My stomach was full, I had to ask for a doggy bag. They also offer have pay-what-you-can days and exhibit art pieces from local artists.
I RECOMMEND YOU THIS PLACE.

Fell in love with this place! They give big portions of food for the price and the food is really great. Plus, they operate on an honorable mission to help rehabilitate formerly incarcerated people in the Boston area. Great place, can't wait to visit in the warmer months when the garden is up and running.
The jerk chicken is superb and the french toast is super yummy for brunch.
If only I lived or worked closer, I would be here every week! The Haley House has a positive, artsy vibe with an awesome mission. They're clearly a community-centered institution. The food is flavorful and pretty cheap compared to most of Boston, I was obsessed with my breakfast hash bowl smothered in harissa. Definitely worth a stop for any meal or one of their evening events!

I was in the Rox, this Bronx kid felt right at home. The Sandwich was very good. The slaw and Collards greens were on point. Good times in the Bean. They provide a good service to the community.
The Nubian Bowl is amazing! The wait was a bit long but it was well worth it in the end. Great atmosphere, staff and food.

I had the Garrett. Well made, great portion and very tasty. My first time time there, would definitely frequent again on my next trip.
Great coffee, good food, outdoor seating, and hip cozy indoor seating. Friendly staff and pro Community vibe.
This place is special to me. It shaped my coffeeshop frequenting behavior long before I ever had such a thing. This place set a bar high. And it still feels like home. The food. The drinks. The community. Love it here.

I can't wait until the hiatus is over. I miss the amazing hand pies, delightful atmosphere, and friendly staff. Nubian square's other cafes are no comparison in either quality or cost (or both). I look forward to Friday mornings having joy again.
