There were some intriguing selections of udon flavors they offer. Despite being a busy weekday, the wait was surprisingly short, lasting around 20 minutes. I will say probably not a place that is worth waiting for more than an hour. The prices here are exceptionally budget-friendly, making it an attractive option for anyone seeking a delicious yet affordable meal.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Futago Udon in Boston, where I indulged in their Spicy Dan Dan Noodles and Curry Fried Chicken. As someone who appreciates attention to detail, I was thoroughly impressed by this culinary experience.
Futago Udon’s Spicy Dan Dan Noodles were a flavor explosion, with just the right amount of kick. The noodles were perfectly cooked, showcasing their commitment to quality. The Curry Fried Chicken, on the other hand, was a delightful surprise – crispy, flavorful, and served with an exquisite curry sauce.
Beyond the exceptional food, I must commend the restaurant for its inviting ambiance and the attentive staff. It’s evident that they take pride in offering not just a meal but a memorable experience. Whether you’re a graduate student, a working professional, or a young parent, Futago Udon promises a fantastic escape from the daily routine. I wholeheartedly recommend this local gem for a culinary adventure you won’t soon forget.
By far the best udon I’ve had! Bowls are definitely on the pricier side, but it’s extremely worth it, as the portions are large and the udon is so well made! The broth is so rich in flavor and all the add-ins just enrich the bowl of chewy udon noodles. Staff was extremely kind and welcoming. The menu has such diverse options, so I’ll definitely be back to try more!
Went on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait around fifteen minutes for a table. They don't really have a waiting area, though, so you have to awkwardly block the entrance. Lots of students, which made sense given the area. There's also a cool mural centerpiece, which adds to the hip vibe.
The idako karaage was crispy and salted nicely. It comes with the typical spicy mayo sauce. I got the cold niku, which was a good portion size. I don't think it compares to Yume Ga Arukara's cold niku, but it is comparable to something that I would get at a random udon spot in Japan, so I have no complaints since it satisfied my udon craving.
I would come back to try more dishes.
Soooo good but beware - soooo filling. This place gets busy. Came for a late rainy Saturday lunch at 4:30pm. By 5pm every table was filled!
Idako Karaage was delicious, but I realized soon after I made a mistake ordering it when I started on my Cheese Niku Curry. The flavors were on point but I could not finish 1/3 of it. Next time I order it, I will skip the appetizer. The Spicy Dan Dan udon was also amazing.
Futago Udon is the spot to quench your Udon cravings.
Cold Niku Udon has a rich broth, sweet and savory, with thin tender beef. Udon has my favorite texture, delicious and chewy, the perfect Udon texture.
Fry oysters were decent, not too large and very nicely fried.
Agedashi Tofu was delicious, but was not expecting it to be hot. Mushroom sauce was very nice, new and different for me.
A delicious (albeit pricey) restaurant focused on house made udon!
The fried purple sweet potato was a standard appetizer, but was definitely elevated with the karaage. I got creamy uni udon and was happy about all of the different fishy flavor bites I could taste. It was a tiny bit watered down but helped to not make the flavors too intense in my opinion which I appreciated. The broth of the udon my friends ordered were rich and yet not overwhelming which was also really great!
There was a short wait for a party of 4 on a Thursday afternoon as I don’t believe this place offered reservations.
Accessible by multiple different transportation stops like Fenway or St. Mary’s Street.
I used to really not like udon. But this here was great. Packed with flavor. It's the best I've had. Glad I decided to give it another try.
I ordered the Uni Cream Udon and chicken Tatsuta-age.
Friendly prompt staff that handled everything well during an extra busy lunch hour rush today.
Very good Chinese and Japanese fusion udon. The udon here has a strong flavor unlike other udon restaurants. It’s easy to eat and flavorful. The restaurant is super clean and staffs are nice. You can see the kitchen working on your food here. I did order spicy miso udon on the lunch menu and it was big and tasty. I don’t know how big the udon on the dinner menu would be. If you are an udon fan, don’t hesitate to visit.
Amazing place to get the sukiyaki udon! Absolutely melts in your mouth, and the udon’s chewiness is delicious! The restaurant is nicely decorated and super cozy, the plating and silverware was also a cute plus!
