Very authentic Shanghai food. Taste goes a little light but that’s usually how Shanghai food was made. Seat is a little small and space is tight, feel a bit crowded especially with kid. It has dim sum on weekend as well(not the same type of dim sum you could expect eating in Chinatown)
As a Shanghainese, I confirm the menu has some of the traditional Shanghai style dishes. The dishes we tried tasted very homemade, in a good way. Nothing too impressive though. Like the restaurant’s decor.
Pretty good. Authentic Chinese food. Just a tad bit bland but again more authentic than American
Good portions
Decent prices. Around $25 a person
We love the food at Shanghai Gate! Their menu is big, and we've eaten around on it a lot, and we've never been disappointed. From Garlic Eggplant to Yu Xiang Pork with Steamed Bao to Stir Fried Beef with Crueller (delicious) to Mapo Fish, it's all worth getting again. Definitely go if you're in the area! The beautiful wall art on the back of the restaurant doesn't hurt either.
I am international student here that I like the traditional shanghai food. I can say that it is delicious at least for me. I also like the service and the price!!!
As of today, no dine-in yet,but good food that comes out and stays hot. Packaging was great and the eggplant+dumplings were tasty.
The food is a little expensive. The rice is not free. The food is ok.
Amazing food but service can be spotty. We ordered for waters and the waiter disappeared and never came back. We tried again in mandarin with another waiter and she came back with only one.
The food was amazingly delicious. I ordered some vegan dishes and never regret it, it was so good. My party had other and they loved it, they are regular there, I can see why. If you do not wish to dine at the restaurant you can order pick up. All fresh and clean. Go for it
Last night I had shallow fried Tilapia , stirred fried diced chicken with green pepper, celery and carrots, Malantou (malantou is a veggie mixed with diced bean curd), soya bean sticks sautéed with sesame oil, carrots, celery and noodles mixed with a skillfully seasoned and cooked oil which is extremely delicious! I had lived in China before. In China, any local eatery you go to, the food is authentic and delicious! Even a regular rice box tastes delicious in China! However it’s hard to find good authentic Chinese food in USA . Most of the Chinese restaurants I went to whether in Boston Chinatown or in other cities in Massachusetts, the food is just terrible! So terrible that they actually tarnish the image of Chinese food !!! But Shanghai gate is different! It’s the real deal! I haven’t had such a good Chinese food for years! Thank you Shanghai gate!
