Hilltop Station

If I could give a SIX star review, I would! From the welcoming service the moment you walk into the door, to the warm and cozy atmosphere, the beautiful location, the fantastic beer selection and the unbelievably delicious menu items based on the owners' homemade recipes, this place is a stand up joint! We finally made our way up to the Hilltop Station last night, which was quick and easy, and not to mention beautiful drive just 10-15 minutes from East Boise. And BOY, did they take care of us! The owners (brothers, Tate and Eric) were present and welcoming to all of the guests that walked through the door. The guys seemed to know quite a few folks by name, or at least learned their names by the time they left the establishment. It was a refreshing, local, "Cheers" style camaraderie going on with familiar faces as well as new faces. We immediately felt like a part of the family. What a treat this was to experience these days when it comes to the restaurant business. We sat at the bar and were able to chat with the nicest lady working behind it. Eric and Tate gave us the history of the building and the story of how they brought it back to life through many ups and downs over the first few years. What wonderful people they are- determined, and so passionate for quality food and service! Now for the food... we enjoyed the healthiest and by far most delicious version of broccoli cheddar soup I have ever had. We then ordered a fantastic Jalapeno Crab Dip appetizer that had the perfect amount of warmth/spice for anyone skeptical of Jalapenos to enjoy. Finally, for the main dish we ordered a "secret menu item" that the folks running the place weren't so keen on keeping secret- the Reuben Pizza made with corned beef, a touch of Russian dressing made in house, delicious Sauerkraut, and topped with Swiss cheese. Oh MY! It was so tasty! We had questions about some other menu items, for example, how spicy was their buffalo sauce on the buffalo chicken pizza. Eric brought out a sample of the (homemade) sauce for us to take home. He then brought out a small plate of their BAKED -not fried- slightly seasoned french fries, just out of kindness for us to try. Again, INCREDIBLE! And served with homemade ketchup- made WITHOUT High fructose corn syrup. Tastes better than Heinz! I could go on and on about this place- just from one visit. Please go check them out and see for yourself. We were so impressed with you guys at Hilltop Station- don't go changin'! :)
