No-frills counter service soup, bread, salads, and cookies. Very simple concept, but executed perfectly. Tiny rotating menu of 8-10 amazing soups, half being vegetarian. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Soups are divine, hearty with a complex flavor profile, still tasting like your favorite soup, just better. Bread is not special, making it a good foil for the spectacular soups. I didn't have the salad or cookies but they look great. Soup portions are good for the quality and price. Drinks are the standard soda/coffee/tea/water options.
I really love this place! Their lentil soup is one of the best I've ever had and the included bread is an extra bonus. The only reason why I can't give 5 stars is because after frequenting here for years, I'm disappointed to see that they still use styrofoam cups, plastic utensils and bags for their bread. I would eat here more often if I knew they were more environmentally conscious (real bowls and utensils) about how they serve the food.
This place is so good, and I feel it may be either underrated or overlooked quite a bit. Its tiny but it's on the square so you really shouldnt miss it. They ALWAYS offer vegetarian and vegan soup and bread options. They rotate their soup options so every day is different. I wish they let you try some soup before you buy, like samples, because some things are kind of iffy sounding, but then you get it and of course it tastes amazing. Overall, especially if you're a meat eater, you can't go wrong!
I went to Darn Good Soup because I was pretty sick and I just wanted some really good soup! I entered and there was a huge chalkboard of the different soups they were serving for the day. The place is pretty small but there are a handful of tables for seating and it was decently crowded when I went inside. After perusing through the menu I ended up getting the Coconut Sweet Potato Soup and it was awesome. The soup was sweet with a kick of spice, which really made the soup really flavorful. The soup also came with a piece of bread which you could eat by dipping into the soup (or atleast thats what I did). Overall, good experience and I would highly recommend to check out the place!
I had the acorn squash soup and it was excellent, served with a nice chunk of bread, perfect to insure you get every bit of deliciousness. It's a small environment but I shared a table with others and it was delightful. Also love that there is artwork displayed as you walk in showing support for local artists. Overall great experience
I served Darn Good Soup at my wedding reception and it was a huge hit! I served Chicken Tortilla, Beef Bourguignon, and Sweet Potato Coconut. My guests said they could smell the amazing soup upstairs from the parking lot. Darn Good Soup got lots of compliments and lots of interested new customers. People loved the simplicity of eating soup. The food was delicious and hearty but not intimidating or complicated. It made my reception simple. And the quality and quantity of food for the price could not be beat! Owner Nels met with me and advised me on how much soup I would need, what soups most people would like, and what I would need for setup. The soup is sold in gallon containers. We picked up the soup hot off the stove 30 minutes before the reception. We served plenty of bread and butter (came with the soup), fruits, vegetables, cheese, cake and cookies. It was a wonderful event and I thank Darn Good Soup for being here and making it possible.
I've been going here for a few years and really love this place. Their soups are an actual meal full of stuff and not watery like how most places serve them. Great soups, good staff, nice environment. Definitely reccomend for anybody who hasn't been to check it out if you want something different.
