Stopped in a little after dinner time. I am not from the area but figured I would give it a try. I am glad that I did. I ordered cashew chicken (there was a combo) with an egg roll and crab rangoon. You added some extra fried wontons.
While waiting for my food, I learned that the owner was taking my order. We chatted about our respective cities and why I was in town. Very nice gentleman if you do get to meet him.
The food was amazing. Fresh vegetables, sliced chicken, delicious rice, and the fried items were not greasy at all. I was given plenty of red sauce for dipping.

We've always had a good experience at China Star. The owner is incredibly friendly and finds excuses to throw in extras. Plus when the kids are with, he's quick to slip them some fortune cookies. My wife is gluten intolerant, and she doesn't get sick from things on their gluten free menu.
A great menu selection even for diet restricted peoples. Always made fresh, and ready in a reasonable time frame. Staff have always been pleasant, and chatted at check out.
Today opened his restaurant on a closed Monday to honor my request to cater for 25 people. The food was excellent and the customer service above expetations. He really cares about his customers.

Sweet & sour chicken was good. The chicken was tender and fresh tasty.
Orange chicken was OK in my book. I had better one.
Beef broccoli was good. The broccoli was so soft and tender. The sauce was good, not over powering. I think this is the best beef broccoli i ever taste.
Ordered for the first time today, and this was the best Chicken with Broccoli I’ve ever had. The vegetables were so fresh and stir fried perfectly. Will be a staple in my work lunch ordering from now on!!
My favorite Chinese takeout in Bloomington. I've been coming here for 25 years and their food has never disappointed.
Carry out but was surprised at the quality of food. I think in the future I would order ahead on their app but overall a great experience.
The owners are so nice! Food is good and reasonably priced. Highly recommend for quick dinner. No dine in...not sure if it's due to covid or just prefer take out (there are tables but are covered with miscellaneous items.)
Been eating here for 3 decades and never been disappointed. Great food and service.
