Kelly's - now Scout's Downtown Bakery - is a fun sandwich deli, that happens to have delicious baked goods, and they cater. They offer sandwiches, soups of the day, quiche, & salads, and breakfast casserole. They also have a cafe combination so you can choose 2 - half sandwich, soup, salad. My all time face is the black Russian sandwich. The chili, & chicken dumpling soup are very good. Pictured here is the red pepper bisque and grilled honey ham sandwich.
I've visited Kellys Bakery for the first time this week after being suggested to check them out. Friendly staff and clean kitchen. I even like their decorative ceiling!
Delish! The desserts are yummy, the tea fresh brewed with copious ice available and comfy seating. A mini quilt display of modern quilts was particularly nice!
This is such a cute little bakery and cafe. I love how their menu is huge on the wall and they have so many great choices. My favorite is the grilled cheese with bacon because it’s such a delicious comfort food. The staff is always friendly and I love looking at all of the art on the walls while I’m eating. It’s a great place to stop if you’re walking downtown. I have yet to try any of their bakery items, but I’ve heard they’re delicious.
Attractive walls and general feel to the place. Not overly huge, but a welcoming place with interesting menu options. Staff was friendly and attentive. Very helpful to first-time visitors. Love that they work with other local businesses and groups! What a pleasant addition to the local scene. Gluten-free options sometimes too.
Sandwich was good, service was okay but not great.
The day I went they had some kind of italian soup with kale. Best soup I've ever tasted. Their bread pudding is really good too. And the place is really cute with local art on the walls (that you can actually afford!)
Location / Atmosphere - A very good option a quick breakfast or lunch when in Bloomington. Very clean and well managed. A very nice restaurant with home-made food.
Food / Beverage - Very creative menu where everything sounds excellent. Hats off to the chef and kitchen staff. I typically always look at the specials of the day as I love the creativity. There were many items that I would have loved to try but choose the pick two lunch option. I had the 'Roast Red Pepper Bisque and the Cafe Roast Beef'. A nice portion of soup which had excellent flavor. It was nice to have bread choices for my sandwich when ordered.
Service - Very pleasant and attentive service. Very pleasant all around from the woman that took my order to the gentleman that delivered it. Always nice to be served by people who don't mind being at work and have a positive attitude.
In summary - A very nice place. I recommend visiting the when in town.
I've gone too many restaurants ranging from Epiphanies all the way to hole in wall types for many years, and I have not had a lobster bisque as good as I did today in a very long time. I also had a sandwich with a jalapeno raspberry jam I believe. This place is amazing and relatively inexpensive. Will be going back!!!!
We had the chicken salad and egg salad sandwich . Both were excellent. The potato salad and coleslaw were better than any restaurants. We left with two containers of the potato salad for Sunday dinner. The desserts and cookies looked divine. We were sad we hadn't left any room. We would have gotten some to take home but the line was too long.
